Danny Ings

He wasn't on the pitch then.

There's no better way to lose stop marking a player than by leaving the pitch.

He probably should have scored a second but hit his shot at Foster rather than over or to the side. We'll still probably get top four but third would be nice and second even better.

He’s a good player that’s very suited to our system. That’s his first start in a team that generally included our other main starters around him and he looked the part. He missed a chance but all of our forwards miss those even Salah. I think with him getting that goal it will relax him a bit more when he plays going forward and we will see him be even better. We are not going to sign some world class player who will sit on the bench for our other 3 forwards who isn’t going to rock the boat. Either getting pissed off and mouthing off in the media or worse gets on the pitch and is greedy because of a lack of game time which would effect the whole balance of our attack.

Our back up attack is almost always certainly going to be young players with potential like Solanke. Having Ings is a strange one because of his injuries he seems to have been happy to try and work his way back in and we should accept that because he’s clearly got a bit more about him than Solanke has atvthis very moment without unbalancing our team and coming in and annoying the other lads. Everyone clearly likes him.

He was probably good enough for a Liverpool squad of a few years ago but not anymore. Same with Moreno and at the minute gomez. The full backs yesterday where very poor.

Funnily enough I can see the same thing with Gomez that happened with Ibe, Ibe played quite a bit when Klopp first came in, he was always praising him up and running on the pitch to hug him at the final whistle then bang off to Bournemouth he went. If Gomez doesn’t improve by the end of season or at least show more signs that he’s ready to play CB then I can see him going with a big sell on & buy back included, possibly to Newcastle or similar. He’s not a long term RB so if he’s not good enough by now to transition to CB then what’s the point?

This. I cannot get over many people seem to think we are going to sign a player like giroud to sit behind our front three. Giroud went to Chelsea because he knows he will get games seeing as £58m man Morata is actually quite shit.

Ings makes Mark Lawrenson's team of the week...

Danny Ings: It was great to see Danny Ings back in a Liverpool shirt and looking so effective. Two years he spent recovering from injury and, from the look on his face, putting Liverpool 1-0 up must have felt like winning the lottery.

Why Jurgen Klopp took off the striker, I don't know. Ings needs game time and was running Ahmed Hegazi ragged at the time. The West Brom central defender must have been delighted to see Ings substituted. Liverpool's game started to fall apart the moment the striker left the field.

Did you know? Danny Ings scored his first Premier League goal in 930 days, since netting against Everton for Liverpool in October 2015.

Ings is not going anywhere unless he wants to try his luck elsewhere. Jurgen loves his battling qualities and Ings has the desire to continue.

I don't think he does myself. Gives the ball away too much and has the touch of Gary Glitter in a nursery. Think he only played because it was a straight choice between him and Solanke. It also makes sense to put him in the shop window for a Summer transfer.

West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi will not be charged after appearing to punch Liverpool's Danny Ings in Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw at The Hawthorns.

Striker Ings complained the 27-year-old Egyptian jabbed him in the stomach after the pair tangled as they both attempted to head the ball.

Referee Stuart Atwell did not see the incident, so it was referred to an independent panel of three referees.

But they were not unanimous in the view it was a red-card offence.

Either Wilson or Woodburn would fill that -- same with Brewster.

The fella will be 26 in a month or so and has played what - 20 games in three and a half seasons. - Scored like 4 goals maybe. Pretty much anyone can fill that spot.

Don't talk sense.

Keep him for a season, give him the chance to show us what he's made of, it's not been his fault he's had such bad injuries and not his fault the front three have been so on fire that he's not been able to get a look in.

He'll have a point to prove, and he'll want to repay they loyalty shown to him.

Ings always has been and always will be shite, he’s not good enough even as a sub for us. If we got anything over £10m for him I’d sell him, id rather keep Origi as a backup if he would be happy with that. Both aren’t good enough to start here, failing that Solanke will be Firminos backup, he just needs a goal to get it out of the way and get that monkey off his back.

Bit like Ings needing the monkey off his back then. Which he has done. Oh and Jurgen loves Ings like he does Henderson.
