Underwhelming to say the least but Klopps future will live and die by these signings so for his sake I hope he knows what he's doing

Get off this forum and get back to wrestling the number four goalkeeper's shirt from Alex Manninger, Karius.

Our goals ratio from chances created for midfield players has been poor for a while now, Klopp is replacing the midfield with players who can score, with the way he sets up and the chances we create I can see three out of Coutinho,Mane, Firminio and Wijnaldum getting into double figures for the season. Both Coutinho and Firminio hit double figures last season.

Wijnaldum scored more league goals than any LFC player.

Committee seem to be loving their versatile players this summer, the first choices Gotze and Zielinski were very similar to Mane and Wijnaldum in this regard.

Defensively though we just don't seem to think we need massive improvement, which I can't fathom.

The goalie will make a big difference.

We still need some class and nous in central midfield for me though. It's like we're picking up these athletic attack minded midfielders without the brains behind them to make them go.

When we're 2-0 up against Sunderland at half-time, they start the second half real aggressively, and we need someone to put his foot on the ball, and slow the game down... Who do we turn to?

We used to have Gary Mac, Didi and then Xabi who were experts at it. Now we have none.

Was there a reason why Newcastle got him relatively cheaply? Was his contract running down?

Can't remember off the top of my head soz. I'm sure it was about the only offer they got for him though. It was all a bit odd. Loads of interest in Memphis Depay and hardly any in the captain who was probably more important to the team.

Yeah, was contrasting it with the Depay situation. In fairness, Newcastle have gotten some decent value outside of England in recent years.

Which is kind of my point mate, He also scored a shed load from midfield with PSV. He is your typical Dutch attacking midfielder, put players around him and he'll score and create, the way Klopp likes to play is perfect for the lad.

Can't be doing with utility players, can do a job here can fill in there, get specialists.

Yeah. I'm not disagreeing with you at all. Can see us scoring a fair few goals this season. Mane adds a few as well.

Indeed, I can see lallana and Henderson being benched a lot now. I reckon Klopp sees a stong midfield more important than paying over the odds for a 30+ Striker. If Sturridge can stay fit we still have him, Origi and Ings for up front which should suffice if the midfield score the goals they are capable of.

I'd still like us to bring in a good LB, although Gomez who looked promising before his injury should be back at the back end of pre-season and he can cover at LB and CB.

Bollocks, just read about Gomez set back, hopefully his latest injury won't set him back too far, still being assessed but definitely missing start of the season.

Are we sure his best play hasn't been at striker?

He struggles to hold up the ball. Against Chelsea and City he played well, as we were counter attacking mostly... I'm not convinced he could cut it against teams sitting deep. His first touch often deserts him.
