Transfers summer 2016

Or just give Woodburn some game time this season, ease him into the Premier league without burning him out too early like we did with Owen, and then use the money we save to buy a fuckin boss LEFT BACK!

Isn't Woodburn an attacking midfielder?

See Southampton have signed goalie Alex McCarthy. Good player, rated him highly ever since he played a worldy for Reading and kept a clean sheet against us a few seasons ago.

Would have been a first class back up.

chris kirkland and bogbrush also had great days against us and we bought them.

After all the activity we continue to have a big squad full of average to slightly above average players and a number of good but ultimately overrated players

Overrated by whom? I think they're fairly rated.

Good - Sturridge, Coutinho, Clyne

Potentially good - Can, Origi, Karius

Question marks - Firmino, Mane, Lovren, Matip, Wijnaldum

Meh - the rest

So you think somebody would pay going rate for an "excellent" player with the best goals per game ratio in the league last season?

I don't know... Obviously question marks over his fitness, but when fit, he's the second best striker in the league after Aguero IMO.

Two of the biggest liabilities from last season remain. Step forward one of the most brain dead left backs in the Premier League...Moreno...an accident waiting to happen, who should have had his arse kicked out of the club the day after the Europa League Final. In addition, the nervous wreck Mignolet between the sticks.

Those two clowns will cost us 20 points at least this coming season.

No need for more signings. We had an excellent window. We just need to get rid of some awful players like Ojo, Sturridge and possibly Coutinho. Thank you FSG, our great white yank role models. You are true inspiration.

You might have shown a few wee disciplinary problems earlier on, but you've shown tremendous character in recent posts and you've become a wonderful part of the group.

Klopp ponders new Liverpool signing as defensive woes mount

Reds boss could further strengthen squad after fresh injury setback

Jurgen Klopp is considering going back into the transfer market to strengthen hisLiverpool squad before the start of the new Premier League season.

The Reds boss has already welcomed seven new signings to Anfield this summer but could add one more.

Left-back remains an area of concern after Alberto Moreno limped off with a dead leg in the defeat to Roma in St Louis.

Klopp has indicated he’s prepared to use James Milner there as cover after failing in a bid to sign Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

However, other options are being considered. Germany international Jonas Hector has repeatedly been linked with Liverpool this summer but the ECHO understands that a move for the FC Koln left-back is highly unlikely. The Reds don’t believe he’s worth the £20million price tag.

“Is the activity all over? I have no idea,” Klopp said.

“I don’t think so. We will see what happens.

“If the Roma game was our base then we have to change everything but it isn’t. Was the Milan game more our base? Maybe. But Roma? No.

“(Joe) Gomez, (Mamadou) Sakho and Lucas are all injured so of course we haven’t got enough centre-backs at the moment. But we have to handle situations.

“There have been too many games with not enough centre-backs. We can’t sign someone just for a few weeks. In other positions we do have cover.”

Liverpool looked vulnerable defensively against Roma with Klopp unhappy about their organisation.

However, the boss is confident they will put things right ahead of the Premier League opener at Arsenal on August 14.

“We have to improve a lot but not because of this game,” he added.

“What you saw was an example of how you can’t defend - leaving spaces so big you could have cut grass in between.

“We were too wide, too deep and too far from each other so each pass they played was a chance.

“But we created six or seven chances of our own with really good football.

“It was a bad game but we know why we lost. There were tired legs and it was really hot.”
