He looked excellent, but the Euros was a bit of a head fuck though; most of the really good players were shite and Joe Allen schooled the likes of Nainggolan in midfield.

You've watched a lot of him? I think he's pretty average personally. Hasn't really nailed down a starting eleven spot for Milan, is a bit injury prone and hasn't really progressed since he was young when many people were saying he could be the next great italian defender. His play style also reminds me of Darmian, which isn't great to be honest.

I do watch a good bit ot Serie A as it is on free TV here every week.

 

Two years ago he got injured during the failed Inzaghi experiment.

 

Miha (no slouch of a fullback) obviously thought highly of him. As did Tassoti (certainly no slouch of a fullback) He certainly was a regular last season.

 

He is quick, good with both feet and smart. I am not sure we have a single defender who ticks those three boxes.

 

Also he is not a dwarf.

Alex McCarthy is a good singing for Southampton. Would have been a far better option than Mignolet here.
