Transfers summer 2016

With lucas gone so does any semblance of a DMF at the club, this needs to be addressed, unless klopp thinks Henderson can do a job there

I don't think anyone's going to be asked to do a job there, because it looks more a case of the position not being favoured in Klopp's system rather than the player. We're building a side that's supposed to spread the responsibilities, both defensive and offensive.

I wasn't convinced when Rodgers tried a similar thing, but who knows, maybe Klopp can do it, make a group better as a collective, reducing the emphasis on specialist roles.

I like defensive midfielders but I don't see one in the real Madrid or Barcelona team or even the Bayern team.

No point in spending £30 million on a player to hold what you have when you have fuck all to hold.

Need to score goals and not be rediculous at the back.

I'm not sure we'll get a Hector in the team. I have to say I think Klopp is being reckless if he starts the season with Moreno in the team. He'll need to be prepared for some shite coming his way if Moreno plays like he did last season.

He was dogshite the other day against those plastic bastards by all accounts.

Jesé received a contract extension offer from Real Madrid recently, with his current deal expiring in 2017. He did not respond to the offer from Los Blancos because he wants to leave the club.

His priority appears to be joining the English Premier League and specifically Liverpool, who are following him intensely. If he leaves Real Madrid, he wants to do so in order to receive regular playing time, which is something PSG cannot guarantee him.

If this is true and we don't make it happen it will be criminal.  Mane and Jese either side of a pacy striker like Sturridge or Origi is almost too much pace to be true.  All three of them offer goals as well.

I'd happily settle for spending the Benteke money on Jese and get a cheap option at left back if the choice were either that or get Hector for 25m and pass up the chance to sign Jese.  Arbeloa is available on a free and could surely do the job of backup LB/RB for us for a season.  Might even beat out Moreno as the starter, even at age 33.

busquets certainly plays that role for Barcelona. when hes not being cynical con artist hes very good at sitting, destroying and giving the ball to better players.

I don't see us linked with any other LBs since the Chilwell deal fell through, I'm all in on Hector, from the little I've seen he looks solid and has to be an improvement on Moreno. Don't care if we spend big, we need reliability at LB a lot more than we need the money.

In a Pep Lijnders interview (Echo), he said that the manager and his coaching staff made a list of all the players they wanted, and got them. So far. Where certain players were on the list is unknown, so I'm hoping that with what Klopp said about 'probably' having all the players they want in (and out) that there's still a determination to get a back up left back. Milner ain't it.

I tried to think of a Dortmund team that had a defensive midfielder, and I couldn't think of any. But I happen to think DMs are an important part of the game, especially since we failed to replace Mascherano. More importantly, we lost an experienced and smart footballer.
