Transfers summer 2016

Once the deal for Zielinski fell down Liverpool immediately contacted Newcastle last Sunday. #lfc (Dominic King)[/size]

Our first choice was Zielinski, second choice Wijnaldum.

Would our third choice have been Toni Kroos?

And out of it when you have to plow through what is essentially a transcript from two fuckwits in the middle of a game of FIFA using fifas positional terminology as well.

I'm sick of hearing players described as fucking CAM'S. It's like at the height of FM people trying to out cunt each other by arguing whether a player was an DM or a DM/AMRC.

Cunt off.

What a bizarre post. What would you call Zidane? How would you differentiate his position to Mascheranos. I don't even play FM, and have played less than a dozen games of FIFA in the past year. It's just standard football chat.

Interesting that we refused to go above £10m for Zielinski, but happy to pay £25m for Wijnaldum.

I wonder if it's a long-term strategy of not being fucked around by smaller clubs, so we basically rub it in their face that we had cash to burn, but we disliked our experience of dealing with them? Bit like "look what you could have won, had you not acted like cunts"?

Wijnaldum also cost more because he can play in a couple of different positions, whereas Zielinksi is a CM specialist and nothing else. I think it's only natural one costs more than the other.

As for Dahoud, I think we could bid £50m and still not get him. I think the club want to hold onto him, and I think his agent knows that his client could get a move to Madrid or Chelsea in 12 months time. I think there's nothing we could have done there.

I think a left back and that will be it. If a few sales go through, as expected, we'll be close to breaking even this summer. I won't use that as a stick to beat the owners though, as Klopp will have improved the first team and squad, reduced the overall size of the bloated squad (hopefully), and he will have been backed by the owners in the business he wanted to do.

Money will be available to go for a player or two perhaps currently out of reach, should we qualify for CL next time. I know Man Utd are spending like crazy from a non CL position, but that's on the back of 2 decades of sky success, so the financial juggernaut has been built up. We are not able to match their top wages at the moment, so comparison to them being out of the CL and doing what they are doing is somewhat misplaced. I think they are playing a risky game though, going for egos like Ibrhimovic. They gave him Martial's number 9 jersey, apparently without telling him. There will be a few bumps in the road there, and here's hoping Mourinho is a busted flush too, and his Chelsea form continues!

I like the way we are going about our business. The team is the star.

Overall our activity has been good so far. We were pedestrian, slow and lacked goals from midfield, so we got Mane for pace and width and Wijnaldum to address the lack of goals from midfield. We replaced Skrtel who preferred playing with a deeper line for Matip who hopefully can accomplish what Klopp wants from his defenders. We've also addressed the lack of competition for Mignolet (Here's hoping Karius can displace him). Then we got a cheap cover option for centre half in Ragnar, and a potential future star in Grujic. None of them are household names, but we need to realise two things.

1. We need to be responsible in our spending. Paying massively over the odds for a player and his wages has a knock on effect which could potentially bankrupt the club. Other players who perform at similar levels to, for example, Pogba if were in with a chance would want parity with that wage. Also, we tried that route with a few which left us with egg on our faces, and to this day, whenever our name is linked with a player, the price shots up threefold.

2. Big names and Big price tags are not always a sure bringer of success. See Chelsea with Schevchenko, or City with Robinho, SWP, Veron, Afonso Alves, Denilson, Soldado, Kaka, and then... Where it really gets depressing: Downing, Carroll, Benteke. Klopp, I think, is trying to create a team here. None of this star player shite. It seems he wants players who can come in and pay the way he wants.

Big ifs and buts whether the new signings will pan out, but that's basically any transfer for any team.

Rossiter 100k

Teixeria 250k

Canos 2.5m

Sinclair 4m

Skrtel 5m

Ibe 15m

Smith 6m

Bogdan 800k loan fee

Allen 13.5

Toure 0

Enrique 0

Total 47.1m give or take a million or so.

Still to sell hopefully

Illori 2-3m

Benteke 27-30m

Alberto 6m

Markovic 8-10m

Lucas 2.5m

Wisdom 2-3m

That's another potential 47-53m if the rest of that list get sold for anything around their value.

Even if we buy a left back for 10-13m all the sales easily cover our outlay which so far is about 70m.

That's without the owners spending anything themselves or the TV money.

If we get a LB, I'm hoping its the end of our spending. We must sign more players every summer than any other club out there and our league position always stays the same (Suarez year excluded).

Lets try and have a settled team now and let them gel for the season and clear the decks of our shite once and for all.

We've already got a bloated squad and will have the following 10 just for our bench for the Arsenal game - Multiple Migs, Matip, Moreno, Klavan, Milner, Grujic, Lallana, Firminho, Origi & Ings and who do we leave out?

Agree about the size of the squad and I would like to see a few more fucked off. I would liked to have seen us buy a midfielder who can tackle and protect the back 4. I'd be happy with us getting another left back. God knows what Klopp sees in Moreno apart from his pace.

I wouldn't shed any tears if we sold Lallana and Henderson either. I also think relying on Sturridge to play a full season is dangerous and we should have been looking at getting another proper striker to replace him rather than another no 10.

It's been a good window imo, we're always moaning about unflushables etc, Jurgen know's how to unblock the bog, so to speak. The players we've brought in are good to adequate, so long as we bring in a good left back and possibly another striker (Talisca) I think I would be happy for now, maybe line up max Meyer for January.

I agree, Id quite happily see the likes of Henderson, Milner, Lucas and even Sturridge go if it meant we started behaving like a big club and went balls deep for Kroos and Griezmann and paid them the champions league wages they really want instead of the £70k per week and a 20% discount in the souvenir shop we probably offer.

There's a massive elephant in your room and his name begins with 'B'.

Add a LB and I'll be happy enough to see how this squad performs. Too many in one window rarely works.

I get the feeling it's Chilwell or nothing. Ordinarily I'd say £10m was extortionate, but considering we're accepting £6m for Smith it's probably about right. Leicester rate him highly and seem to think this'll be his breakthrough season.

Didn't even include him because we aren't getting shut of him. He will end up going out on loan the last day of the window to Sampdoria, Chievo or Crotone with a blag promise to buy and we will be covering his wages.
