Cracking documentary on BBC 4 last night. Great back catalogue from all members- probably the cleverest band since The Beatles.

Kevin Godley came across as the kind of feller you would love to have a few pints with.

Was going to watch it on catch up but you've put me off after that absurd comment

They were a tremendous band though very much of their time. You don't see them mentioned much now even though they deserve to be, almost as if they've been forgotten.

Sheet Music was a genuinely great album which everyone seemed to have at the time. Don't know if it stands the test of time because I haven't played it for years.

Think I might you-tube or Spotify the tracks from it it to find out.

As for cleverest band since The Beatles, well that's a matter of opinion but, they were one of quite a few bands over the years who were given the "New Beatles" moniker, along with the likes of ELO and Squeeze.

Not quite The Beatles but very good.

In my hungover condition,I should have really said that in their day ,they were the cleverest and most innovative since The Beatles. I agree about ELO and Squeeze being excellent, by the way.

Was never into them , although some good songs wrote for various others. Can't stand that Not In Love and its.pretty dire when its on the jukebox and you're at the bar on your own staring at.the optics , especially when the dreamy bit comes.on , ssh don't cry and all.that.

Cuck all that and as.being as.influential.as the Beatles , I don't think so.

Graham Gouldman wrote hits for loads of people including the Yardbirds, Hermans Hermits and The Hollies. Genuine talent that bloke.

Great band, and yes, on a par with ELO and Queen for creativity and varied style that pleased the musos and the masses.

I think this sums up how good they were when their members made contributions with and towards other artists. Its a big part of what made the Beatles so great.
