Sadio Mane

If Mane makes me giggle nearly half as much as what Suarez did, then I'll be made up. I didn't know much about Suarez and I wasn't bouncing off the ceiling when he came to us. I'm hoping this is one of those signings.

I'll save you the wait, it's not.

I'm just weary from it all. I find it difficult to even motivate myself to watch YouTube summaries of our signings or potential signings.

The saturation coverage of the sport and the constant (and increasingly hobbyist as opposed to expert) tactical analysis just turns me off at this stage.

Hopefully the Klopp effect will boost my enthusiasm levels again in August but the thought right now of sitting through any of our pre-season friendlies fills me with dread.

It's absolutely obsence money, but when you hear Troy deeny bids of 28m are being rejected and that city are willing to pay 55m for John "good on the ball" stones you realise what a farce it has become. He's a good player Mane, has all the attributes we're lacking in wide attackibg areas, he also strikes me as the type of character who will not be phased by the weight of expectation of playing for a club our size.

Imagine the speed of a fluid front 3 of Mane, Sturridge and Origi against the 'lesser' teams, with Cou at the tip of the midfield.

*sex wee*

That's assuming Daniel can still run.

Also, we'd need at least one very good midfielder who can defend in that scenario though.

Get to work Jurgen.

I'm imagining it and it makes me realise how poor of a signing Mane is.Our problem for years has been breaking down teams who sit back, a player like Mane who likes to play on the counter and is not creative is exactly the kind of player we did not need. He'll be playing simple balls to Coutinho and others with the hope of being played through, that tactic is not going to have much success against teams that sit back.

I'll get behind him now as he is a LFC player but this is a baffling singing imo, people say we need a winger and he is the answer but my idea of what a winger is seems different to most.I thought a winger was someone who beats players and gets crosses in, not someone like Mane who plays sideways passes and just looks to be played in.

Good luck to him but if he is the only am we sign we have not addressed the problems we had last season unless Klopp is changing our style of play and we are going back to the football we saw under GH.

Does anyone know if he's a cunt?

And if so, is he the right kind that you need a bit of?

He seemed to fall out with Koeman at times.

He's got a few red cards as well.  So he'll put himself about.

I just hope he has bags full of confidence and self belief.

The crowd at Anfield really can be dementors at times sucking the life out of our players.  A misplaced pass, poor shot etc and the moans & groans come out - unless it is a big game and they fully get behind the players (and they usually play better as a result).

The great thing about Suarez (and Sturridge to a less degree), is they don't give a fuck about the moans and groans.  If Suarez lost the ball (and he would often), then he wouldn't shrink into his shell.  He would try and take on his man again the next time he got the ball.  He wouldn't just play the safe pass, he had huge bollocks and he'd take risks and responsibility to try and win us games.

I hope Mane has that self belief and confidence as that is needed, just as much as ability at this club.

What about our glaring obvious lack of width to stretch teams?

Jürgen Klopp: I've followed Sadio Mane's progress for years

Jürgen Klopp revealed his delight with the deal to bring Sadio Mane to Liverpool after the club completed the signing of a player the manager has tracked closely for a number of years.

The Senegal international today finalised a switch to Anfield from Southampton, where he scored 25 goals in 75 appearances during a two-year stay – including four strikes against the Reds last season.

Mane first caught Klopp’s eye at the 2012 Olympics football tournament as his country reached the quarter-finals, and the German continued to follow the forward’s progress as he impressed for Red Bull Salzburg and then the Saints.

Now the 24-year-old will enter the next stage of his career with Liverpool, and the boss is eager to begin working with his latest recruit when pre-season kicks off at Melwood later this week.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “I have followed Sadio for a lot of years since his impressive performances in the Olympics in 2012, and then watched his development in Austria and in his time at Southampton.

“Since I came here I have spoken to the staff a lot about him and have always felt he could be a very good signing for us. He has a lot of quality, works hard and has a very good goalscoring record.

“When I spoke to him I could tell that he was passionate about joining the club and playing for our fantastic fans. I think they will be just as excited about seeing him put on a Liverpool shirt as I am.

“It is great that we have managed to sign him so he can work with us from the first day of pre-season.”

Meh, the valuation means less and less these days though, if Klopp wants him & has a plan of how to get the best out of him that'll do for me.

True, but we really are shit at trying to get players for their true market value, no way is Mane 34 million worth.

Totally agree mate, but there's fuck all we can do about the fee's knockin around these days so it's best to ignore the price tag and just look at what the player brings to the table in terms of talent.

I like Mane, he's quick and strong and has an eye for goal, what's not to like?

I feel like this myself, probably only watched 2 games in the Euros, just can't get up for it. I hate international footy these days anyway but I used to make the effort & watch it. I initially thought it was just the hangover from the Sevilla game, but the more I think about it, the games going to shite. Every time you turn the tv on, there's always some fucking no mark on it giving their opinion on all things footy, it does my head in. 25m for Troy Deeney, Mane 34m, the games going fucking nuts. I used to be a football fan & would watch anyone kicking a ball about, but, these days, I'm just a Liverpool fan. Can't be arsed watching anyone else. The amount of good games you see these days are very few. I hope I'm ready for the new season, I really do, but every passing season, a little bit of passion/enthusiasm leaves me. I love Klopp and he brings a smile to my face like no other, apart from Suarez. Klopp managing Luis. How good would that be.
