He hasn't been the same since he came back from having Covid. If he has a proper break at the end of the season then I think we will see the best of him again next season.

He is putting the effort in but just seems to confuse himself alot of the time when he actually has to do something with the ball.

I think VAR and officiating has fucked his head. His fitness has been there, his decision making has gone to shit. Half the time its like he's trying to draw a foul rather than beat a man but only going down if he's genuinely fouled and can't keep on his feet. He's a player overthinking his game. He needs to sort himself out because we've too many players going through the motions.

Slack Jaw and Fernandes(P) seem to do OK out of theatrical falling.

If Fernandes was on holiday in Japan and an earthquake sent him to the floor, God would award him a penalty.

He'd be the perfect warning an earthquake was about to happen, a tremor sensed only by animals and Fernandes, they flee for the hills and he dives and feigns injury.

Does he actually win the penalties though, he takes them. Its beyond astounding how many they are awarded.

Mane is never going to be as effective without the fullbacks overlapping and causing issues.

Yes he is off form but he probably has the hardest job in the first 11. He is the one player that picks the ball up and actually runs at people trying to take players on. Even watching Salah more and you don't see him trying to create the same way. Without Robertson overlapping and keeping teams from double marking mane it will always lead to him running down blind alleys

Add to that the play this year being slow as fuck for large parts of the season and its no wonder the front three are struggling to get going. Salah is the only one getting goals but the rest of his game isn't as good as its been in other seasons either. The play is to fucking slow. Midfielder goes wide to the fullback who never runs at a fullback they just try and force a cross or turn back inside and recycle play again and again. The back 8 we often play against, resets and is rarely stretched

This season has unfortunately become riddled with theories and suggestions we would never have believed possible a year ago, and it’s because of the series of unfortunate circumstances that started with the COVID-19 pandemic and that has continued through various injuries, loss of form etc etc you all know the script by now.

Every player has been adversely affected and even the Manager, with his Mum dying and the general situation likely testing his empathetic nature, seems to have had uncharacteristic moments of tetchiness and questionable decision making.

Its so frustrating, particularly after the successes of the last two seasons, that we seem to have to find answers or reasons why it has gone shit shaped, and yet perhaps it is just that in our case, this is the effect it’s had on our team and there are no answers to find, it might be just how it is.
The whole world has been changed, is it any surprise that there’s been an effect on our team.

and that in our case it just has to have been negative?

They’ve played brilliantly well, at a high tempo, for three seasons and at a point where they win the “holy grail” the joy is taken from them by a pandemic. No chance to celebrate it properly with the fans, or their families where they come from, people calling their massive success “tainted”, so how would you feel in the same position?

The deflation they must have felt would be massive and how do you pick yourself up after that?
I don’t believe for a minute any of the players are happy with where we are, or how they’re playing, and neither will the manager and his staff be happy.

Maybe, with this season going into its final phase, we should accept how it has been and give all the players and staff a free pass, and expect a change for next season when they will hopefully have the chance to reset, recharge and come back stronger.

The owners should ensure that whatever it takes will be granted to get us competing again for their franchise to give them the returns they desire, because a second season like this will dent their profitability dangerously and, being the clever businessmen they are, they should know that.

That is the worry

Any decent set of owners would understand the issue, would realise they fucked things up not having a CB ready to come in on Jan 1st and would throw the needed money at the club while making what they can back on fringe players. Even if that meant telling Klopp and Edwards they need to trim the wage bill and we can't have the likes of Matip,Shaqiri,Ox being paid huge amounts while not being in the team.

But how many people really see them doing that. It'll be we need trim down the squad and live within our means and that finances are down due to lack of Champions League football

The last time we didnt have him playing a League game against Villa went well.

I don’t think that can be levelled at Mane.

We actually looked really threatening, especially in the first half.
