Indeed, how on earth can anybody from the Labour movement believe this is a good idea? Have they completely ignored what happened with the SDP, and that its formation led to another 13 years of the Tories in power?

The left has eaten itself. Ideals over power to put ideals into place. They’ve all got cushy jobs anyway. They’re playing a game rather than getting things done. I’m honestly fucking sick of politics. The left wing that I’ve been a part of my entire life is a fucking shambles.

Not sure many apart from themselves would compare this four or five to the gravitas of Roy Jenkins and Shirley Williams.

Nick Boles, Alan Duncan and Sarah Wollastone all under threat of deselection according to The Telegraph this morning. UKIP infiltration alleged by Anna Soubry.

It's just a bed of roses in the Tory party.

Which makes it all the more irksome that they would still more than likely be returned to office, as has been said this is hands down the worst Government in living memory, it’s virtually an open goal and Labour should be so far ahead you should need a hubble telescope to see them, that they are probably behind really does say everything.

Yep. The best-case scenario - dozens of MP's from both Labour and the Tories join them leading to the long-needed realignment of British politics - is can't-be-seen-by-the-Hubble-telescope unlikely. The worst-case scenario - successive landslide Tory election victories with around 40% of the vote - is the single most likely scenario. Foolishness.

If Berger is doing one, it looks like Wavertree CLP were right all along and are owed some grovelling apologies.

Also, forget not standing in their constituency, put their money where their mouth is and call a by-election now, to show that they were elected based on their own merit, rather than on the back of the ideology and policies of the party they're now scurrying away from.

They're probably too chicken to do that.

I think that's a fair post.
