#OTD 1994. Tony Blair's first opinion poll as Labour Leader gives the Party a 33% lead over the Tories.

Labour were on 57%, the Tories on 24% and the Lib Dems on 14%.

I should imagine he wasn't getting attacked on a daily basis from his own MP's nor had to out up with the same shite from the media that Corbyn has to.

And by the 1997 General Election, New Labour’s share of the vote had shrunk to 43% and it continued to shrink with every General Election until 2017.

But they won 3 elections on the spin...?

Revisionism at its finest here.

"Revisionism" yer arse!

Those are just the facts. Labour's share of the vote declined consistently from election to election - until (for some reason) it rebounded in 2017.

Meanwhile the Tories got their highest share of the vote since 1983. I guess percentages aren't everything.

Of course not - FPTP and all that - but Rico (for some reason) brought up a 24 year-old opinion poll which deals in percentages, so it seemed appropriate to see how those percentages have panned out.

They just lost two elections and were on a downward trajectory.

Marina Hyde is a bit of a cunt and always has been.

I like it when articles of hers make it onto the football page on the Guardian app. Her name and picture appear quite clearly, meaning you can save your time and scroll straight past them.
