David Bowie got an Oscar ? I don’t know it’s not true at all, as far as I am aware he promised a child he wouldn’t be caned and then caned him anyway to best enhance his art. Child abuse in my book.

Haha. My bad. I thought I was responding to The Artist Formerly Known as Colonel Kurtz (who did have a rapist avatar). He's been busted down to Captain these days and I had a brainfart.

Anyway, it's clearly not true to say that Loach "likes to beat children".

I'm not sure saying "The mural was not anti-Semitic" is particularly helpful, especially as Corbyn denounced it as "deeply disturbing and anti-Semitic".

Yes Mal but I think the main thing is the lie that he defended it. Along with all the other lies.

One of the worst things about smearing Socialists with this is that it lets everybody else off the hook for their anti-Semitism. There never was any evidence that it was a worse problem in Labour than in other parties - in fact, there was evidence that it was worse in other parties and that the prevalence of anti-Semitic beliefs in Labour decreased under Corbyn - but Labour was the only party that tried to do something meaningful about it.

It was a targeted campaign against Corbyn and unfortunately too many fell for it.

Apologies for the tardiness of the reply I’ve only just seen this. I’m at a loss as to why you downplay this ( I’m not really I’m being facetious I know exactly why, he has the right politics) he had an actor use a weapon to assault children ( yes children, nice use of the word teenagers by the way to try and deodarise it ) for the purposes of enhancing his art.

He does this today and he and the actor go to jail, end of story, it was fucking disgusting behaviour and you know it. Would you downplay Andrew Lloyd Webber doing the same thing in one of his plays? You’d be (rightly) jumping all over him and you know you would. Why are people so fucking entrenched that they lose all credibility.

It's not a question of downplaying anything; it's just keeping it in perspective.

It's completely untrue to say that Ken Loach "likes to beat children". If you want to criticise Loach's decision at that time, I'd agree with you and so would he; but there's no need to be daft and dishonest about it.

Looks like Claudia Webbe is going down.

Threatened to chuck acid in the woman's face and send naked pics of her to her kids. Kinder, gentler etc

Seems like very poor judgment for Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott to give her character references in court.

EDIT: fucking hell

Genuine question: you say you're a Lib Dem (and I've no reason to doubt that) but, despite this being widely regarded as one of the most incompetent and intellectually lacking governments in history, you only ever punch left? Unless I've missed it, I don't see you criticising the Tories at all. Surely someone who occupies the centre ground of the political spectrum, you'd find something on both sides to have a go at, but you never do.

This seems a lot like whataboutery.

Being how it's the Corbyn thread, I'm hardly likely to attack the Tories in this one. If you're looking for that sort of thing you're best going into eg the EU thread, probably need to go back a bit before Gnasher made it unreadable.

I'm glad my standing for the Lib Dems in public elections on approximately 10 occasions over the past two decades isn't cause for you to doubt my commitment to them.

I'm sorry you've missed all the things I've written about the Conservatives in the past, most especially this comprehensive piece that I wrote back in March, especially as you posted twice on the very same page of that thread:

Why you should vote Conservative

Poor people... well, they're a bit shit, aren't they? If you haven't got money you must have done something wrong in life. If we had to feed, clothe and house every idle layabout who couldn't be bothered to tap daddy for an interest-free million pound loan to start their own interior decorating business, then some of us would never be able to afford that second chalet in Klosters.

The poor simply need to be incentivised to become productive members of society, and while we know that wealthy people are incentivised by being given more money, we also know that the poor are incentivised by having money withdrawn from them.

Inheritance tax is simply wrong. My grandparents worked very hard to buy that property which rocketed 1200% in value through nothing more than dumb luck, and the idea that I should have to pay a sliver of the money realised when it is sold is abominable. Get your own wealthy relatives you lazy peasants!

For too long the EU has been a shackle around our ankles, a German plot to rob us of our sovereignty, and that's why we are better off out. True British sovereignty lies with one person and one person only, and that is Her Majesty the Queen. Nothing says truly British like Saxe-Coburg-Gotha-Glucksburg-Battenberg.

We aren't tough enough on criminals. The death penalty needs to be brought back for murderers, because killing people is simply wrong. And drug dealers need to be publicly flogged. Drugs simply have no place in our society, as I was saying to the chaps at the club over brandy and cigars last week.

The NHS is a great British institution, which is why we need to sell the profitable bits off to the Americans. Our doctors and nurses work so hard to save lives, and they need to be properly rewarded, with a round of applause every week. Some may say a pay rise of more than 1% is merited, but the country just can't afford it. Especially after spending £37 billion on track and trace. Priorities, people.

For too long teachers have been permitted to spread their communist propaganda unchallenged in our schools. Children need to learn about how great the British Empire was. After all, if we hadn't subjugated a third of the globe, many of these ethnic children wouldn't even be here. Really they should be thanking us for enslaving their ancestors so their descendants could enjoy the benefits of our bountiful civilisation.
