Her smug fucking grid when she was booed by Labour members and said something about ' Thats the problem with freedom of the Press ' .

Yes I am sure all of those journalists who have been killed or jailed over the years for their chasing the truth with their every fibre all did it so Laura can keep her bosses sweet and her mortgage paid.

It's laughable that the likes of her and Peston call themselves journalists. They basically get given press releases and interviews with people and if they don't toe the line their access gets restricted.

The British and American press jumped the shark during the second Iraq war where they were being 'embedded' with an invasion force.

It's not journalism it's PR.

I read Gordon Brown's comments at the weekend and he was more or less saying that people in anti-semitism cases should be thrown out of the party as quickly as people supporting a different party. I quite like Brown but obviously the evidence is usually more challenging in racism cases than the likes of Campbell's case.

As far as I am aware , when the police under Cressida Dick investigated Labour a/s cases they found out that only three reached the threshold for police action ( presumably the sort of obvious cases Gordon was alluding to ) and 2 had been summarily thrown out of the party and 1 had left before they could be investigated.

Surely he must have been aware of this before he made a bit  of a fool of himself.

He didn’t make a fool of himself, though.  He succeeded in conveying the message he wanted to convey; that these Lefties are wrong'uns and can't be trusted.

Of course, he didn't have to worry about whether his claims would stand up to scrutiny, because he knew there wouldn't be any.

You lot don’t half turn on your own, the language used is scary.

I wonder how people outside the party would be treated if you came to power? I’d imagine the LDs would be in the camps but Conservatives?

For 4 yrs 40 yrs ago.

Yes , 12 years before Hillsborough and based in Ireland which was why I didn't think it fair to mention it in my earlier posts , but strangely enough the mention of it has disappeared from wiki. ( Along with his stint with the Droitwich Guardian !! )

I was just musing about Labour today and I reckon the problems of the last 4 years can be boiled down to an imbalance of power.

The party contains Social Democrats and Socialists and all shades in between, and that's fine: the party's big enough to accommodate them all. The trouble is that most of the power in the party - in HQ, the PLP, the NEC - has for too long been in the hands of one wing of the party and they are not going to allow their power to be eroded by democracy without a fight. Some significant strides towards democracy have been made - bringing in a leader, a General Secretary and an NEC more representative of the wider party - but there's still a way to go before we're in a position to win a General Election.  (The Deputy Leader is currently the most potent force working against the party.  Replace him with someone who will act in good faith and we'll be in much better shape.)
