But what has he achieved by leaving? This was supposed to be a national crisis meeting and he came across as a politician more interested in petty political squabbles, i.e. don't think  many people believe he would react the same if TIG was represented by Soubry. Political party or a grouping, they have 11 votes.

As mainstream politics goes, it's a tactically poor move. You must go and pretend you don't know it would be pointless and after that you say you made every effort but... and then you rip into PM.

He didn't leave because it was pointless or a sham, even though it was of course both of those things. He left because Umunna was there. Not really a surprise from the king of gesture politics, but you would hope at a time of national crisis he could just behave like an adult for 5 minutes.

They are a parliamentary group and their spokesperson is Chuka Umunna. Being a parliamentary group (with 11 MP's) they have 11 votes on any Brexit related decision, so they need to be present to gain a cross party consensus. This is purely logical.

Unless of course it's Umunna's fault for being there, and he's just a sneak trying to sabotage Corbyn in some way by his mere presence. The objections to this are very bizarre.

Soubry was at the meeting.

Doing yourself down there, Stronts. You must place well on the list of favourites to succeed Vince.

Admittedly Jim White’s tie, Charlie Kennedy’s ghost and the Downing Street cat are also in contention, but we all have faith in you despite the stiff competition.

Seems you know exactly what happened when there’s conflicting reports in the media.

Well I haven't been reading any of the conflicting reports, just the dozen or so reports that say the same thing, and of course the Labour statement that confirmed it.
