I might have mentioned before what a fat, nasty, vindictive, vile, hypocritical cunt her mother is.

We’re all (us 4, her parents, her brother, his wife and 2 girls) away this week thanks to her dad renting a beautiful converted barn with indoor pool for the family over half term.

The MiL managed to behave herself for almost 36 hours before returning to full on cunt mode and has managed to fall out with all 9 of us and give each of us the silent treatment at one point or another. She’s also reduced her 2 granddaughters to tears with spiteful comments.

Sunday afternoon we lost all power for 48 hours. As soon as the power went she announced no one was allowed to open the fridge as the food would go off. Apart from her that is as she needs to stuff that vast, cavernous, fucking cakehole every 30 minutes. The fiL told her to fuck off as his beer was in the fridge and that was the first lot of radio silence, moods, door slamming and attempts at ruining the holiday for everyone.

She’s since kicked off at the missus as she had an afternoon nap and was “neglecting the boys” and making everyone else look after her children. They were in the pool with me! She told her eldest granddaughter who has just turned 13 and has her first boyfriend that she’s eating too much (there’s fuck all of her and she’s massively into gymnastics) because she had a bowl of popcorn after tea one night and “he’ll dump you if you get any fatter”. She hates the boys having fun and actually laughing and told them both next year they wouldn’t be allowed to come because they’re ruining it for her. She’s never liked me and I can honestly say I’m not her No.1 fan so I got it in the neck when she heard me swearing and found out the FiL and I stayed up till 5am getting pissed and playing table tennis.

I honestly can not think of a single reason why he puts up with the cunt. He’s great, both the missus and her brother adore him, all the grandkids think he’s ace and he’s always been sound with me. I pity the poor fucker.

I bet you could make even her into a lovely looking dish for the foodie thread.

Sounds crazily familiar that. We even did the whole renting a house together thing for my missus’ dad’s retirement celebration.

Fortunately the ‘house’ was just a fucking huge extension on the back of a pub so it was very easy for us menfolk to get out of the way.

Her brother isn’t a big drinker and her mum hates anyone else drinking if she isn’t.

So her dad and I have a crate of beer and bottle of gin downstairs by the games room.

Well we got some lovely news yesterday. We were expecting it, but bollocks anyway.

My sister went with my ma to the memory clinic to get a diagnosis. We only went two years ago just before the lockdowns started, and they told us then that she had mild cognitive impairment, and had an 80-85% chance of it not progressing.

Well it has progressed, and they confirmed yesterday that my ma has Alzheimers. I knew it was going to be something like that (I was expecting Vascular Dementia as she's Diabetic and has Raised BP, shows what I know!), but to hear that word is just a dagger to the heart.

It's like she's regressed back to childhood, she wants to be at my aunties house (my nan's old gaff) all the time, she's horrible to me poor arl fella, she's stopped recognising me and my sister some of the time, etc etc.

I'm devastated, and I don't know how long she will last the way the symptoms have progressed over the last two years, not to mention her physical health taking a battering as we can't get her to eat properly.

Sorry for venting, needed to get it off my chest. @Bjornebye, hope it goes / went OK.

My Mum has dementia now, from once a sprightly old lady, she drove to Liverpool from Southampton just before Covid but since then her health has deteriorated rapidly plus i dont think the loss of her youngest daughter helped 3 years ago.

I don't know what to do, or what can you do? I call her most days and will get any shopping she might need, her partner is incapacitated as well, all this rapid decline in the space of a year.

My older sister fell out with my brother and now me, ive had to block her texts, the thing is that me mum reckons she's stashed what she says about £10,000 somwhere in the house, ive looked to no avail but will again though she says my older sister was rooting around when no business to be, im sure she's looking for it also she was left £5000 by her sister, my aunt, a few weeks ago and my sister tried to get power of attorney and open a bank account, she only has a joint one, she was determined that me mums partner wouldn't have it, she was after it but we cancelled the appointment so nothing was signed, it sickens me, but with me mums forgetfulness getting worse by the day so to speak, me and my brother cant really prove or get to the bottom of it all.

It has to be the saddest of all afflictions and i can only try to steel myself for what's to come and the inevitable outcome.

Im trying to see what help i can get but she doesn't want any of it though she will soon have no option.

Age is the cruellest of all but some family members can be more cruel in their greed and its all about me agenda.

That could be my MiL, except for the fat part. Mine is skinny as a rake, a function of her 40-fags-and-15-G&T-cans-a-day habits. It's revolting to be in the same timezone as her, let alone the same house.

I feel your pain mate, so sorry to read your news. I'm lucky that me and my only sister get on for the most part.

We're trying to get POA for mum and dad now (dad has his faculties, but he's 89 and frail), but I'm not sure we can get it for mum as I think she'd likely be judged to be lacking mental capacity. I think there is another way we can go but it's a court order kind of thing.

Hope you find the cash and stash it somewhere safe for them for use when they need it. Make sure you get on to social services and see what they can offer. Try Alzheimer's society too, they may help.

As always, we're all here for you, take care of you and your family.

Cheers I have a few numbers. I've never looked at this thread and it was, i don't know the word, that so many in the same boat.

I spoke to her before, to see if she needed anything tomorrow and seemed ok but the other day while looking at old photos there was one of her and me Dad at the 65 cup final  both laughing with monkeys and parrots on their shoulder, dont know what was going on there, and she said who's that? Me Dad Mum, oh doesnt he look young, so a clear sign apart from forgetfulness.

Me and our Steven will get POA if and when need be to ensure any money is in the right place.

Too late to ask why it wasn't in a bank, a lot of people do stash money all over place, a practice from years ago i think.

Yeah a lot of older folks tend to be wary of banks, I'm just glad my arl fella is one of those that trusted them.

My ma forgets who me and my sister are quite often now, you just have to not let it get to you.

She was fucking fuming the other week when my sister told her that she was married to my dad, my poor dad!

Blimey its mad, Sammy who was on here used to tell me about his Mum, though sad but in a way funny i suppose that in itself is a way of dealing with it.

Like last week i was telling our Steven that she made me a Ham roll, i tasted a bit of sugar and thought that some might of spilt on the side but she made it in a current bun, it was ok to be fair.

Oh righto, i once had a hot cross bun with this onion cheddar cheese and it was surprisingly good, I'll check your recipes out.

All you need to do is stand outside a wetherspoons on a Saturday night and ask everyone over 50 to either shit or be sick into it as they stagger out. Once it's 2/3rds full take it home, take a picture then dig in.

Just had a look and i see your point, what's been seen cannot be unseen. The 3 cheese tortellini thing is an inexplicable phenonema.

You cant beat a crisp butty though, sometimes.
