Whats your favourite war film ever?

Recommended Posts

The 9th Legion is a decent Russian war film (Don't know if I've mentioned it in here/can't be arsed to go back)

A Russian Full Metal Jacket, instead of Vietnam you've got Afghan.

Apocalypse Now

I think because I grew up in that era.

But there are so many, most already mentioned.

The Big Red One is a good straightforward combat movie.

Two on the margins are The Tin Drum and Life Is Beautiful.

A bridge too far, sands of iwo jima, battle of the river plate and the cruel sea are good films to watch.

jimmylowercase.

Battleground (1949)

The first and arguably the best movie about the Battle of the Bulge. Used a load of 101st Airborne as extras.

Malena has to be near the top for me. Decent tale of how war affects the people. And has the added advantage of a smoking hot Monica Bellucci in it, I think she might even disrobe if I remember right.

Where Eagles Dare is my go-to war film though: Clint and Burton being cool as fuck. I've still not got a scooby what goes on in the banquetting room but I know some nazis get killed and there's kerplosions. Job done.
