Here's the way I see it:

We know Mignolet is not the long term no.1 goalie we need. He looked good at Sunderland and we brought him in, but after a few years in pole position he's hardly made himself indispensable. So Klopp went out and got a new no.1 (Klopp made the pecking order abundantly clear a few weeks ago).

Karius should therefore have the shirt until the end of the season, barring a total and sustained collapse, at which point, hook him.

Today was a bad day, but it was bad from several of them. Matip being out was the main problem, as the last few games I thought it was settling down and the defensive unit, Karius included, was coming along nicely. As today showed, we need another centre back as Lovren couldn't step up, leaving us to conclude that Matip was covering his deficiencies, and/or spreading calmness and confidence back there.

Let's see what we have by the end of the season. Karius will either have cemented himself as our no.1 or we will be back into the market for a new no.1. It needs some time to see what will develop.

(If I were a betting man I'd say another central defender alongside Matip, one that Klopp chooses, and we will go on to have one of the best defences in the league, and Karius will grow to be an integral part of that).

I actually think Ming had quite a good start to the season, much better than last year. Karius has looked shite from day 1. Indecisive, jittery, shite distribution, punches when he shouldn't punch and appears to be a shit shot stopper. Apart from that he's boss and should defo be our number 1.

After calming down from yesterday's capitulation. I think you're spot on.

Although karius wasn't great, we've already seen thr evidence of mignolet being crap over a full season, and also the clean vent even kick a ball.

Mignolet is far worse. Unless of course you think a few bad games>a few bad seasons, but that's not really how things work.

To be fair, Mignolet had no real competition for his place last season so there was no way he could have recovered from mistakes by allowing someone else to go in goal.

Now there is competition, if one of them makes mistakes they should be given a break and replaced, giving them a chance to recover and also giving the other keeper a chance to make the shirt his.

This is what a squad should be about. If Mignolet screws up, he should get get dropped so it should work both ways.

I sometimes wonder if a lot of it is down to how the keepers train. Surely we knock balls into the box and have our big defenders clattering into them as they try to catch a cross. Or maybe, as I suspect, we don't.

If this is anything to go by we surround them with inflatables and gently push them with cushions.

They should get a couple of the old Gladiators in to rough him up. I mean from the telly show Not Kirk Douglas and Russell Crowe. Although I think Kirk would still rough him up. And he's 100 this week.

Whenever anyone mentioned Gladiators I laugh

In an old job we were having a chat about our favourite Gladiator.  Obviously Jet, Flame, Lightning and even Sharon "Amazon" Davies were getting a mention and one of the fellas walks in

Him "What are you talking about lads?"

Me "Our favourite 90s Gladiator"

Him "Hmm...mine was Shadow"

We were all creased laughing for about half an hour and everytime we ever thought about it.  Every christmas he'd get a signed Shadow picture, or the Gladiators album, or a big poster of Shadow.  It never ended.
