Torres

£50 million for Torres who was definitely on the way down after injuries took their toll, and a similar figure for Sterling who spends most of his time on the deck looking at the referee.  Who did we pump the hardest out of those, City or Chelsea ?

Can't argue with that. He was absolutely brilliant.

Reading Simon Hughes' book I think the case of him leaving wasn't as clear cut as we all thought at the time.

He comes across as a bit lost. The club had been fucked in the 2 years prior to his leaving but he went just as Kenny came in and as we signed Suarez. Even though he'd lost his edge by the time he went, he still scored some good goals against Blackpool and wolves just before the end. Imagine half a season with him, Suarez and Gerrard together. That said, we were pretty good going forward the rest of that year.

He regretted leaving us pretty much right away. Despite the medals he picked up there he was never really that much a part of it. Their fans hated him.

I also think the club (Us) got a whiff of a 50 million pound bid and seeing that his best days were behind him fucking leapt at it. Smart business.

That said, I will never ever ever forget how shit I felt on the 31st of January 2011. Didn't believe it until I saw him in the corridors at Chelsea on SSN. Broke my fucking heart that did. Also uttered the immortal words to my girlfriend at the time:

"Oh get a grip its on a footballer"

"He meant more to me the you ever will"

That was a dark night.

I felt completely gutted by his move to Chelsea and I genuinely believe he lost a lot of love for the game when he took the money and went there. The injuries don't properly explain how shit he was for them, he was better for Atleti when he went there and he was older and more injured then.

Looking back on it with the benefit of hindsight, he should have retired from international football immediately after the Euro 2008 final. Seemed like every time he went away with Spain after that, he got injured. Maybe we also should have helped him a bit more by not relying on him quite so much. If we'd kept hold of Crouch or had used the Robbie Keane money more wisely, maybe we wouldn't have had to throw him into every match we possibly could, and could have rotated him a bit more throughout the season, to reduce the load on his knees and hamstrings a bit.

If we'd been able to keep him and play him up front with Suarez, with Kenny as manager instead of Roy fucking Hodgson, I think he wouldn't have gone anywhere as shit as he did. All water under the bridge now like.

Guest Pistonbroke

We had some of his best years, he was finished as a top class player when he left us. Obviously he still had the skills but his pace had gone and injuries kicked in more often. Wish him all the best.

A God for a few years with us. I idolised him and the fucker broke me when he fucked off the way he did to Chelsea. I'm not mad with him anymore though. Being champions of Europe again makes me forgive almost anything. Hope he enjoys his retirement.
