I was in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead today. It's a damp, musty-smelling place with a depressing air of long-faded splendour and imminent closure about it. (The gallery, I  mean, although...)

 

One of the rooms is packed full of model ships: not shitty Airfix, but the small-scale models made by the shipbuilders. It's definitely worth a look if you're ever in the area, if only to check out this gem.
