I had a go at some fella at Sunderland after the game in December who for some reason decided to start singing "those amazing Mancs in their flying machine". The fella was in his late 50's so should have known better. His mate stepped in saying "oh he's a great fella leave him alone" then told me to stop moaning because we'd just won.

Also asked some lad in work why he constantly refers to the Mancs as "Munich" when he has a JFT96 banner on his desk. Couldn't come up with a reason and just said it was what he's always called them.

I was generalising quite a bit to be honest.

The point still stands if Utd had this attitude in the 70's & 80's no Liverpool fan would have got within a mile of OT.

I honesty don't think it's really relevant now whether our fans used to sing it en masse in the 70's and 80's. It was 30-40 years ago. Would you excuse our fans singing it in the 80's on the basis that Utd used to sing something at us in the 50's? Of course you wouldn't. And Munich songs aren't the reason they sing Hillsborough songs at us. It's not tit for tat.

The truth is we've largely eradicated it from our support. Not completely gone of course and I'm all for anyone doing it getting the same ban as Utd fans singing Hillsborough songs at us, but you wouldn't see the entire away end or large swathes of Anfield singing Munich songs now like you see those cunts doing.

Much like John Barnes could get a banana thrown at him in the 80's without anything like the level of uproar that would cause now, the game has moved on and in a lot of ways cleaned up the behaviour of fans in the stadiums. It's high time Utd cleaned up their act too.

Then let Utd be the ones to sort them out.

They can police themselves, just like we do.

Except they obviously aren't doing that. The only way to get them to even attempt to do it is to highlight it's happening in the press and have some kind of deterrent i.e. a possible ban for a season for their fans from Anfield on the table.

We'll see if UEFA come up with anything tomorrow but I'm not expecting it.

manchester united have not and never have apologised for their fans chanting. They've only condemned the chant and even then, they've reference that to munich chants.

Why do people think they'll police their own fans?

I don't but if you think us crying about it will make a fucking difference you're deluded just look at Uefa's stance already.

And that only works if you don't have thick fucking beauts in our own support ready to pipe up Munich, we highlight Utd singing murderers us singing Munich no matter how much of a minority did it will get thrown right back in our fucking faces and we end up looking bigger dickheads than if we'd said nothing at all.

That said Uefa's stance is fucking ludicrous.
