Takes me back seeing some of those mentioned. The Exterminator. Alligator. Weirdly we were allowed to watch most of them but my Ma would never let us watch Electric Blue although it used to catch my attention in the video shop at the time!

Those Electric Blue films were soft porn. Loads of great looking naked ladies though.

I know! It was ok to watch Driller Killer for example. But anything that was slightly ahem blue she’d be up in front of the telly turning it over. That’s catholics for you.

I remember it used to take years for a film to make it from cinema to home rental. Looks like Star Wars as a new entry in 1982 took about four years!

Star Wars ran in theatres for like two years though.

Stir Crazy is a good one, Sidney Poitier.

I'm Catholic. I always liked the nuns ones. Not sure they were real nuns though.

Star Wars was shown for the first time ITV on 24th October 1982,just before we got our first Teletext Telly (remote the size and weight of a brick) and Ferguson VCR.

The Empire Strikes Back (1980) wasn't shown until 1988 and Return of the Jedi (1983) was 1989 while having been available on vhs for several years before.
