Me and my mate used to swap albums. He had this, an album I considered to be priceless, a mythical thing you only heard of but never saw in the shops. I offered everything I had for it and the bastard still wouldnt swap

Should have come to Rhyl, I distinctly remember that album in both the record shop and Smiths. I got Scary Monsters instead as I already had the live Ziggy album from '73.

20 years. Blink of an eye.

Just remember being filled up to the gills with MDMA and marvelling at a lifelong dream being fulfilled, somewhere in that throng.

Getting older is massively underrated, but fuck me being young had some shit-hot bits to it.

Last time I went to Glastonbury this, I must've been the oldest cunt there.

Keep on trucking, Gnasher. I’ve not been for 15 years and I’m intending to leave it at least another 10 until I’m champing at the bit.

This is fucking brilliant, Aynsley Dunbar on drums as well...

Wasn't Dunbar from Bootle? I remember this fella who knew him, this was 40 years ago, so it was probably early 70s.

I think he was some sound engineer or whatever as I remember he worked at an Elton John concert in town, must be around 80/81.

Haven't heard much of Dunbar, well I probably have without knowing it, as he was a much sought after drummer?

He's from Liverpool certainly, I'm not sure which area specifically.

He played with John Mayall, Frank Zappa, Bowie & Journey mainly & was very sought after during the late 60s & 70s. Hendrix tossed a coin to decide between hiring him & Mitch Mitchell.

Never knew that, I'll have to look up his credits. He'd have to be good to play with Zappa as I believe he was pretty strict as his band members went.

Dunbar was probably one of the top name drummers in Britain in the mid/late 60s along with people like Ginger Baker & Jon Hiseman.

I can't say I've been one of Bowies biggest fans though I still like his early 70s stuff, nostalgic for those days maybe, but I always thought Mick Ronson was pretty good.

Didn't he have a lot to do with Lou Reed and the Transformer album?

Bowie & Ronson produced it.

Mick Ronson was brilliant. An absolutely underrated British musician and songwriter. He was involved in all sorts - just have a look at his Wikipedia or All music biography. Also, when he signed up with Bowie he was working as a Parks gardener at Hull City Council.

These are his associated acts. Quite the list!
