I saw him at Maine Road in 1989 on the Sound & Vision tour in what was supposed to be his final tour, a brilliant night, he just epitomised cool.

His early stuff with Mick Ronson was some of the most important music ever written in my opinion.

What a downer this news is, and as you say on top of the news of Lemmy's death.

The matrix is taking our music legends away! Fucking insane news.

Am in the same situation as I was with Lemmy here. Didn't listen to hardly any of his music, but it's obvious that he was a legend without any doubt. And he's probably influenced, like Lemmy will have done, a lot of the musicians that I like and have liked over the years.

Weirdly enough he might have had most of an effect on me as a kid, in one of his films. Possibly The Man Who Fell To Earth (just looked at some images of that, it must have freaked me out quite a bit if so!) Sad news anyway.

I loved this bloke's music.

A couple of his tracks have underscored critical, happy, pivotal moments in my life.  Like the birth of my son, who had to undergo surgery at 2 weeks old, and was OK.  Starman.  Under Pressure.

I'm devastated.

RIP, David Bowie.

And thanks.

I was at that.  Coming on stage with Space Oddity and that huge projection on the invisible screen over the stage.

I saw him on the Glass Spider tour, too.  He was a true great.

Gutted.  I loved the man.
