Nope.

He was doing well and then used the mismanagement by a tory council that then went bankrupt as a convenient excuse to push for a block on council tax rises by asking people to sign his petition. The screen also flashed a petition to end inheritance tax. Hmm.

He looks just the man to lend over 650 million pounds to.

I watched it on Panorama this week. It'll be on iPlayer. Well worth a watch. The only thing it doesn't go into in any detail is the fact that it wouldn't have happened if this tory government hadn't abolished the Audit Commission to encourage councils to be more entrepreneurial.

Would love to see that compared to other countries to get a decent idea of how polluted people's minds are in the UK.

The 'yeah but they've got a phone" headlines have successfully seeped through, for example. And that's something which for most people would be somewhere between useful and essential for work. So the stupidity of not believing people without a job should... er nevermind.

The stuff which is more about "enjoying" life, inverted commas because lots of it should be fucking basic for the sixth richest country on the planet, is equally depressing. That's the conflation of the economics of a country with that of an individual propaganda at work. People buying the various myths of this government, pumped out by their fluffers in the press.

I'd wager those numbers would be an outlier against the rest of Europe, or certainly reasonably comparable countries financially.

I agree with your sentiments but that's probably a loaded poll by Youguv. Its definitely a disgusting poll.

16000 sample size weighted to match the 2019 election, hmm. Also questionnaires are I believe carried out online with registered Youguv poll recipients, again open to be swayed be a certain section of society.  I'd take them results with a pinch of salt tbh. It's a poll designed to cause trouble.

The more worrying aspect imo is our politicans still make policy on the basis of poll and focus group findings like above whereas previously the party leaders ears on the ground were the parties MPs, councillors, researchers and members. Now it seems strategy is to win over the otherside by moving towards their skewered veiws instead of setting out and winning your argument. Uxbridge being a perfect example, a few hundred dyed in the wool Tories in a London suburb can change the direction of the country's climate policy.

That poll is still grim reading though either way.

Yougov is a Tory mouthpiece. One of its founders is a former Tory candidate. It's a fantastic propaganda weapon.

So you read it….

At the end of the day why do you care what others engage about? Why are you here reading what gets posted and engaging with it? What is missing from YOUR life that you’re here, on the GF, reading this ‘bollocks’ and getting het up about it enough to spend your time crying about how others choose to spend their time?

I didn't laugh at this, you edited it, I want to take my laugh back

I've got no choice, you and the likes of you are posting twitter shit all the time, worse than that you're posting about it as if it matters. I want to read TLW views not TLW opinions of twitter knobheads. Choose your time as you want but keep your twitter shite there.

You do know you can just click on the little x and cancel the laugh?

I’ll post what I want, when I want, until Dave Usher tells me otherwise. If you don’t want to see it, the ignore function may prove useful.

A Red has a point about the twitter shit though. Let's not want to be outraged by simpletons and attention seekers who are not representative of most ordinary people.

I think it does have a habit of sucking you in.Whether that's deliberate or not(it probally is) its almost like its designed to stoke division.

Unfortunately I believe that fellas views on social engineering/ gentrification or whatever its called are becoming more prevalent across the board, and its not just London and its not just England. Isn't it part of the reason some American cities are in a mess? Such as San Francisco? Although the Fentanyl epidemic may be a major factor in the demise.

I remember vaguely this happening in London during the eighties. I believe it was a tory woman council leader, (can't remember her name) and I believe the borough was Kensington. She tried to move the poor out to keep the area Conservative. She was, suprise, surprise Margaret Thatchers favourite councillor. I believe she ended up being done for fraud.

Another point in all this is how quickly Covid and key workers have been forgotten. I imagine these people in their poor free ivory towers will still require people on low wages to work in restaurants, or work as nanny's and cleaners, deliver their post and parcels and still drive an ambulance into the area if called?

It'd be justice if they did indeed get their wish for affluence only zones then to personally see how quickly their utopia crashes when key workers tell them to get fucked when needed.

Shirley Porter.  The most corrupt and nasty piece of shit you could ever be unfortunate enough to come across.  And every time you shop in Tesco's you're putting more money into her overstuffed purse.
