Liked em both but Benn for me , edges it for the Gerald McLellan fight...and I think he won the second Benn- Eubank fight.

Great times though for British boxing as both men are still greatly rememberedI I wonder if the the likes of Froch will still be spoke about in 20 odd years time now that Sky have tried to ruin it.

His rivalry with Groves is akin to Benn/Eubank.

It was on ITV so everybody could easily access it.

Exactly and why Sky have ruined boxing just like any other sport they get their greedy hands on..

I know off topic but when everybody could watch boxing it was an event when it was on live on terrestrial TV and a reason why some boxers are still revered years after they retired. If the likes of Frochhad been winning titles on the Beeb or ITV he'd be as big as the likes of McGuigan, Benn and Eubank

That's why those fights are still spoke about years later...

I forecast the outcome of the triumvirate at the time,Eubank,Watson and Benn. For me Watson was number two as he'd already beaten Benn and was giving Eubank a fight before his tragic accident at the fight.

Eubank.

Watson.

Benn.

Watson was the best actual boxer,Eubank the most effective and Benn the most aggressive most exciting to watch.

Can't not include Steve Collins in them rankings

And though he never got a title, Herold Graham was superb, though all of them were miles behind Roy Jones, Mike McCallum

To be fair,it's a thread that focuses on Benn and Eubank even though I believe Watson was better all round than Benn. Eubank beats both,Watson beats Benn but it's a narrow spectrum separating them all. Didn't Eubank beat Collins twice though?

No Collins beat Eubank and Benn. Though i don't personally put anything Eubank post the Watson fights as worth bringing it. he was going through the motions after that fight and didn't have it anymore and can't blame him for that

Told you my memory was sketchy. Now you have mentioned it though I do remember feeling Eubank's head was elsewhere in at least one of those fights. Maybe it was the purse that kept Eubank fighting on? And obviously not just for him personally but his entourage in general?

I used to like both of them. It was a great time for boxing..not just because there were so many evenly matches fights, but they were on at time where you could watch down the pub. It seemed these lads were happy to lose if that makes sense. They wanted the best fights and if they lost one, they'd get up and fight again. Way too much boxing at the moment is just risk avoidance and only taking big fights when you have to.
