Not exactly the same but I remember Paul Warhurst for Sheff Wed . A CH that turned striker when Hirst got injured and then couldn't stop scoring . Looked absolutely unstoppable  and even got and England call up .  Picked up and injury , then Blackburn paid a lot of money for him , stopped scoring , went back in defense and finished his career as  journeyman in the lower leagues. I recall him playing for Chesterfield near the end end. Vardy won't continue in this vein and the club that shells out 20 odd million will be fools. I cant see Klopp being interested. In years gone by Spurs were nailed on for these sorts of signings but they seem to have a proper policy now of bringing on talented youngsters. I am sure we tried that a while back !
