January Transfer Window 2016

Are there actually any class German left backs out there atm? Seem to be a problematic position for them given they've played a centre-back in Howedes there for some time and even Can more recently. Hector could be the one to seal that position but even he is right footed, which makes him an unlikely left-back signing for us as Klopp clearly relies on full-backs to provide the width rather than out-and-out wingers.

Probably not but i've a lot more faith in us finding one than I would six months ago where we'd be throwing in £20m bids for Bertrand or Cresswell.

I'd like to see us sign Neves in January, even if we leave him where he is for the rest of the season. His price will go up and up, as will the competition for his signature. Neves could come and learn under Lucas, and then he'd take over the position but adding more of a playmaker style than Lucas does. I think Can and Henderson in front of him would be very good, then any three in front of that from an exciting array of attacking talent we have at the club.

Chelsea, Liverpool target Ruben Neves wants to become Porto 'club symbol'

Ruben Neves became the youngest ever captain in Porto's Champions League history earlier this season.
Ruben Neves thinks it would be "fantastic" to become a Porto icon, despite speculation linking him with a Premier League move to Chelsea or Liverpool.

Neves, 18, has drawn comparisons with Barcelona star Sergio Busquets after a number of impressive performances in holding midfield for Porto, reportedly attracting the attention of some of England's biggest clubs.

Neves grew up as a Porto supporter in the town of Mezelos, south of Porto, and joined the club's academy at the age of eight. The midfielder has been named as the club's third captain despite his age, and has a release clause of €40 million after signing a new contract in October 2014.

Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa warned off Neves' potential suitors in late October by suggesting that the midfielder could follow the example of former Portugal defender Joao Pinto, who spent his entire career at the Estadio do Dragao.

Speaking about the president's comments, Neves told the club's magazine: "To hear the president say that he wants to make me a symbol of the club, it's fantastic. This made me feel very proud.

"I am under contract until June 2019 and, at the moment, I am only thinking about the club achieving its goals."

Neves became the youngest Primeira Liga goal scorer in Porto history last season, netting against Maritimo when he was 17 years and five months old.

In October 2015 he became the club's youngest-ever Champions League captain by leading out the side against Maccabi Tel-Aviv aged 18 years and 221 days, before making his international debut for Portugal a month later.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly targeting a defensive midfielder as Nemanja Matic has struggled to carry over his form from the Blues' Premier League title-winning campaign into the new season.

Liverpool eye Kevin Grosskreutz transfer from Galatasaray for a reunion with Jurgen Klopp

Versatile German who worked under the Kop boss at Borussia Dortmund is in limbo in Turkey and unable to play because of a paperwork error

Jurgen Klopp is aiming to fly to Kevin Grosskreutz’s rescue in January, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

The Liverpool manager will make a move for the Galatasaray utility man, who played for his fellow German at their former club Borussia Dortmund.

Grosskreutz, 27, has been frozen out for the past six months, kicking his heels on the sidelines.

The Turkish club did not submit his paperwork in time to complete an August transfer and he has been left in limbo, unable to play.

Klopp used Grosskreutz in a number of positions during his time in charge of Dortmund.

We need to talk about Kevin: Klopp reckons the utility player could slot in well at Liverpool

Galatasaray made a late move for Grosskreutz days before the last window closed in August but they failed to complete the paperwork in time and FIFA ruled that the transfer could not go through.

That has left Grosskreutz training without purpose and, with his family not having settled, he is anxious to cut his losses.

Klopp has masterminded an upturn in Liverpool’s fortunes, but the Reds are still showing defensive frailties.

Grosskreutz, who moved to Turkey for a £1.5m fee, would be able to provide competition and cover in a number of positions in defence and midfield.

His salary would fit comfortably into the Anfield club’s pay structure and he would provide Klopp with insurance during a heavy fixture schedule in the second half of the season.

Talks reportedly opened between us and some Serbian teenager named Marko Grujic after we scouted him.

Hipster response: *pops off to youtube* I know all about him, here are his strengths and weaknesses.

Cynic response: Yet another "one for the future," why won't FSG open the purse strings to fix our midfield weaknesses?  Wake up, sheeple!

My response: Who knows, hopefully if it comes off he will be brilliant.

Klopp took over at Anfield in October and has already seen an improvement on the pitch.

Lets hope he's not the German Milner.

The Metro is quoting the Turkish newspaper. Express fuckwits.
