Franz Beckenbauer: Jurgen Klopp is one of the best in the world

Klopp is expected to join Liverpool FC as manager - and German legend backs it

Franz Beckenbauer has hailed Jurgen Klopp as one of the best coaches in the world, and has urged Liverpool to take up the opportunity to hire the German.

Klopp is expected to become the next Reds boss, with the club hoping to confirm him on a three-year contract by the end of the week.

Legend Beckenbauer has seen plenty of the 48-year-old during his time as a pundit on German television, and believes the pairing of Klopp and Liverpool would be a good one.

He said: “He is fantastic.

“He is one of the best coaches I know in the whole world, and he was really a milestone for Borussia Dortmund.

“He took over the club and made them into a world-class team. If Liverpool has the chance to sign Jurgen Klopp then they should do it.

“He likes to talk. There are not many coaches left in the world that like to talk so much to the players but he is one of them.“Liverpool is also one of the biggest clubs in the world, so Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp is definitely a good combination.

“He is also a winner.”

Meanwhile, Klopp’s former employer at Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, says the coach would improve any player he worked with.

Watzke worked with Klopp throughout the coach’s seven-year tenure at Westfalenstadion, and also believes Klopp’s expected arrival at Anfield will give a “warm feeling” to the club.

“He can do every job, he can make every club,” Watzke said. “But Liverpool especially is similar to Borussia Dortmund, the same structure and fans, it’s a wonderful club, it’s marvellous.

“He makes every player he has better.

“For the club, it’s wonderful to work with him because he has very big understanding for the problems of the club.

“He gives a warm feeling to the whole club and the seven years at Dortmund was wonderful.”

Think he will get the atmosphere back to Anfield too. Im pretty sure the Kop is going to love him.

Not even Christ himself could do that. Unless they drastically reduce ticket prices and bring in loads of young, lower-class lads sitting together and creating atmosphere it just won't happen. He's going to be massively disappointed if he's expecting something like 2005.

Is right.

Until they get rid of all the half scarf wearing whoppers and until there is something done about the split in the support then it isn't going to get better any time soon.

I'll celebrate when its a done deal. Too many false dawns down the years

It's done imo, the owners wouldn't have sacked BR without someone lined up and are probably delaying announcing it out if respect for BR so it doesn't look like they were doing the deal while he was manager.

Klopps always seemed destined to manage us, the first time I heard about him was when he was talking about us when we got Hodgson and he was saying we were a massive club etc but it was to early for him to manage us.People in football, fans and the press have also been saying it's a match made in heaven for years.

He's always mentioned us over the years and when he describes clubs he would like to manage it sounds like hes talking about LFC.Im interested to hear what he says when he takes over and whether or not he is a fan, if he's not he must like a big challenge as with his cv he could get easier jobs.

This feels like when we got Suarez. An elite player/coach undervalued because of biting/poor form last season. Fair play to FSG, they've done what everyone on the forum, myself included, had said they never could. They held someone accountable, played their cards right, and got their man. Haven't been this excited since the week leading up to Chelsea at home in 2014. Buzzing off footy and Liverpool right now.
