“It’s a minor setback, which isn’t ideal, as I’ve been in great shape until now, but it’s positive news that it’s only a brief lay-off,” the No.20 told Liverpoolfc.com.

“I’m pleased I’ll be back available for Liverpool, both domestically and in the Champions League during September, and then England again for the next break.

“I know I can make a significant contribution over the course of a long season and that’s where my focus will remain – with so much to play for.

“Doing my best and giving everything for my teammates, management and supporters of club and country is all that matters.”

Lallana may be doing a Coutinho just to avoid any risks at all. Don't forget he got that debilitating injury on England duty in the first place. Some people with short memories are talking all kinds of crap now forgetting Lallana before his injury was our best midfielder bar Coutinho.

He has been good in very short spells the few times he’s managed to stay fit for a few months. The last time this happened must be at least a couple of years ago.

Read somewhere that he’s had 11 injuries since he joined.

Get rid if we can, if you call it a replacement or not is irrelevant, we need to spend those wages on a quality player that is likely to stay fit.

Too many references to "England" in that response, for me.

I concede it is currently international time and the questioner's angle may have been the national side.

But still, gib it off, Adam.
