Watched Bowling for Columbine recently for the first time. Found it interesting that Moore seems to blame the TV news media to an extent for creating unfounded fear among people..

Was reading something a while back about how suburbia had basically been invented to sell cars. You wonder if this narrative of America being dangerous and needing to tool up was designed in part to make white people flee the city and hole up. Possibly that fed into republican revisionism too of an America that never existed, picket fences, lemonade stands, kids called chip.

An Arkansas police officer who threatened to shoot any protesters who showed up on his doorstep now faces a manslaughter charge after he fatally shot a fellow officer who knocked on his door.

33-year-old Calvin Salyers is charged with one count of manslaughter over the fatal June shooting of 36-year-old Scott Hutton. An arrest affidavit obtained by the news outlet revealed that Hutton was shot at an angle through both Steyers's front door and a glass storm door in Alexander, Ark.

Salyers said after the shooting that he saw a someone with a gun on his hip when he looked through the peephole of his front door in Saline County on the evening of June 3. Salyers said he then drew his gun and accidentally discharged it while attempting to move the weapon from one hand to the other.

Hutton was reportedly at the house to pick up Salyers's police cruiser after attempting to reach him over the phone and by text, apparently unsuccessfully.

How is that not a murder charge?

He threatened to shoot someone prior to shooting a workmate dead. That's just bizarre.

Grim as fuck.

A three-year-old boy in Texas has died at his own birthday party after finding a family member’s gun and accidentally shooting himself in the chest.

The accident happened on Saturday afternoon in Porter, 30 miles from downtown Houston.

“Family and friends had gathered earlier to celebrate the birthday of the three-year-old, and while playing cards, heard a gunshot,” the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

We fear civil unrest so we're removing our guns from display. Still sell them to you though.
