Everton (a) - the Merseyside derby, 4/10/2015

Right, I don't know why, but I'm still fairly confident about this.

It's Everton. We go the game. And normally beat them. That's what we do.

We're still a bit crisis-y at the moment, but I think Sturridge getting back to fitness will make us a lot more threatening against an Everton side who look as dodgy at the back as we do. Also, they have a few injuries in their back four.

I feel that the right noises are coming from within the club, maybe not the manager, but definitely the players. They seem determined to improve upon a largely indifferent start to the season. And, what better place to do it than a derby at the Pit?

Worries are Deloufeu up against Moreno and Lukaku seems to be hitting form.

But, if we can't up our game for a derby, then we're definitely fucked.

Our season starts on Sunday!......

Expect Everton to release a DVD of this game. It will be bittersweet though because Rogers will get sacked on the back of it, Klopp will come in and klatapult is into the kloposphere and we will finish in the klop 4. For Everton , their season will turn to klop and they will end up 7th/8th.

And thats all i've got to say about that.

Been worrying about this, but in reality the only time I can remember them beating us when everyone expected them to for a long, long time was utopia-gate.

They always shit the bed against us when they have to go out and prove they're the better side.

No doubt if the same happens again it will all have been a clever ploy by Roberto to ensure Brendan stays in charge, proving once again that you don't have to win...

If Benteke's fit it'll be a big call as to whether he walks back into the team. Being an away game you'd imagine they'll attack rather than sitting back, so Ings' tenacity to press the CBs and his better mobility will come in handy. On the other hand, Benteke would be an easy out ball for the defence.

Not sure why but I'm feeling pretty confident. Maybe it's just that Sturridge is back and we may play two strikers in central positions.

I was thinking yesterday, in a perverse twist of fate among the current dark clouds, that we might knick this.

But after seeing them overturn WBA, I'm suddenly feeling a bit more "realistic".

Unless Sturridge has a special day, I can see them outscoring us.

They definitely have more fight, we'll need to score first and never fall behind.
