United v Liverpool - match thread

There was a constant clamour on here this time last year for Gerrard to be jettisoned.

My fear is that if a 6-1 defeat to Stoke didn't cost Rodgers his job, what can?

Maybe a few thousand empty seats at home games might focus minds. I remember the home derby at the end of Hodgson's time not selling out until he got the sack. We're probably approaching similar territory now.

I'm sure it was a close run thing whether to sack him at the end of last season and I'm sure they will be constantly reviewing it now, When he cant get performances from his players it suggests he has issues in the dressing room and we may find they will act quickly before the season slips away , It's clear we are no better even with all the new signings

Brendan Rodgers on Sky:

"You are never happy when you lose a game, especially to your rival. The only positive for me is that we had a defeat here last year and we got better.

"The key for us is to initiate a game and create chances, that is something we need to be better at."

"I thought in the first half we defended well but had nowhere near enough quality and composure on the ball.

"We were disappointed with a couple of the goals. I never thought the free kick was a free-kick. Penalty, I think Herrera has done well, young Joe Gomez will learn he has to stay on his feet.

"We got back into the game with a brilliant goal but then we concede a disappointed third and that kills is.

"We need to be a lot technically better than we showed today. Over the first five games now creating goals is something we need to look at. It is too easy sometimes for us to go direct to Christian Benteke, who was excellent today.

"I have a group who will respond but we have to be technically better."

It's the fans at the game today that i feel most sorry for. I know what it's like being in that shithole watching an inept team surrendering to the mancs.

You would have to go back a long way to find a liverpool team who surrendered as meekly as that one did today there.

Torres and Suarez just shaking hands at the start of the Barca Athletico game, How did we get from having some of the best players in the world to the shite that we send out in the shirt these days, Its heartbreaking to see what we've become in such a short space of time

Says it all mate.

I hope Brendan isn't as flaccid with his new bird as he was with his tactics today or she will be binning him almost as quickly as LFC. Over £50m worth of strikers arrived this summer and we can barely scrape a goal while repeatedly playing a front man that is more isolated than Charles Bronson.

Rodgers' hubris will rightly cost him his job as he is hell bent on proving his judgment is sound; it isn't. He has bought players in his own likeness and rarely has such a crew of soft cocks rolled out to play for our club as Mingolet and Lovren. 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 clearly does not make best use of the players available and it beggars belief that he is persisting with it despite his purple period at the club coinciding with the use of two forwards. His famous fucking dossier must have been written in blood and bound using the spoils of his feverish masturbation. Weirdo.

Its the gutlessness of our start thats pissed me off most today. Packing 10 men behind the ball and leaving Benteke up front. We're not Torquay.

Against a utd side with practically no cutting edge too. It was only a couple of years ago we went there to win and smashed them.

Rodgers has the same nervous wreck affliction as the centre backs and keeper. The man is broken. Best for all if he goes.

It'll do no good for Gomez and Cylne either being around this setup.
