Apparently not happening according to the Echo.

Liverpool are not in the race to sign Barcelona winger Adama Traore.

Reports in Spain suggested that the 19-year-old was on the brink of flying to Merseyside to undergo a medical with the Reds.

However, the ECHO understands that Liverpool aren’t interested in a deal for the teenager.

Traore, who has represented Spain at under-19 level, is likely to move to the Premier League over the coming days, but either Stoke City or Aston Villa is likely to be destination.

Spanish clubs Villarreal and Celta Vigo are also keen on him but Traore has indicated he wants to play in England.

Barcelona are prepared to agree a permanent deal but only on the basis they secure a buyback option – similar to the one they negotiated with Everton for Gerard Deulofeu this summer.

Traore has made four first-team appearances for Barcelona. He has been a regular for Barcelona B over the past two seasons – scoring eight goals in 63 outings.

Someone had better tell that sky journalist he can stop being a sad, pretend ITK cunt around about now.

Adama Traoré has agreement with Liverpool. But there is still not agreement btw clubs about the buy-back clause (to Barça). Adama is waiting

It was clear from the moment that he entered the rumour mill that Traore just didn't fit in with the rumour trajectory of LFC, at least as it stands under the current manager. Monitoring may have occurred at some point, but there were no reports of circling or swooping that would have strengthened his rumour credibility.

I wish him well in future rumour mongering.

Whoever is responsible for starting this rumour clearly is not familiar with the way we conduct our transfer business.

I mean - why would we spend £10m on him now when we can buy him after a stellar season in 12, 18 or 24 months time for £30m?

Yeah, we'd never spend that kind of money on potential from the Spanish second division.

  • 4 years later...

He's vastly improved but the points are still there. Without space he would be half as effective. And when the ball is on the left he's far to wide right and always outside the box. Without pave he's nothing.

But for the right fee he would be a good addition as you could r double mark him with Mane, Salah on the flanks too
