I did end up getting a Sheltie, she died after one year unexpectedly. I was heartbroken, loved that dog.

Not sure what's happened in the past few years but prices have nearly doubled. I'm thinking of getting a dog but the local rescues appear to have very few younger dogs in. And some breeds I wouldn't go near without having then as pups for training/socialising. But pedigrees seem to have doubled in price in the last 3 or 4 years. Even fucking cross breeds and going from £1500 in some breeds. Its a fucking cross, I don't care if the dad is from a champions line of X. 

The most recent price hike is down to Covid, people off work thinking they'll get a dog for company.

 

We bought a Cockapoo in May 2019 and paid £800, lovely dog, so my Mrs was thinking about getting another one last year. Checked the prices and they were all well over £2000, with one cheeky twat in Liverpool wanting £4000 for one. 

Fuck that.

 

Hopefully the prices will come back down as we get back to some sort of normality, but I think there's going to be a lot of young dogs on the market with people trying to claw some money back, or in the rescue centres.
