Let's see what they do with the money. If we spend the Coutinho money on a goalkeeper and attacking mid, with the Keita and VVD money on top, then I'd be satisfied we weren't just selling to buy.

However, if we haven't lined up some sort of reinforcement in this window, then I'd be a bit pissed at the planning aspect.

I'd be satisfied with that, but always seems we are getting somewhere then we fuck it up .And people can say what they want you take him out of our team and it is going to hurt us for the rest of the season .I was optimistic but now the feel good factor ie van dyke has totally gone

Yeah, fucking in quick aren't they. It's like they've got their own whatsapp group and have assembled en masse. BOYS! IT'S COMPLAINING TIME!!!!!

Tell you what, if we go out and sign Lemar and a quality keeper, it's going to take some creative maths to pin the last two windows on the coutinho money.

Its valid criticism unless Coutinho is replaced. Not necessaily with a like for like but we do need more players in this area of squad. We are having another very good season, latter stages of CL and possible qualification through league position again so we need to buy. The timing is bizarre although you could argue Klopp wanted to squeeze the last stages of usefulness out of Coutinho knowing he will get the players he needs in this window. The ball is in FSG's court very firmly now. How we react in the transfer market in the coming weeks will go a long way to convincing fans how they want the team to perform on the pitch.

Seen this on Faceaids. That good old net spend cheatnut.

Are they in it for the money? LR.

FSG have spent £635m in 8 years of ownership and Liverpool only have 1 League Cup to show for it.

FSG since their first transfer window in January 2011, when they sold Babel & Torres and bought Carroll & Suarez, to this January transfer windows sale of Coutinho in 2018, which is a total of 15 transfer windows under FSGs ownership.

They have spent £635m on Players Purchases.

Recouping £522. 7m from Player’s Sales, with a Net Spend of just £112.2 million.

This equates to £14m per season, or £7.4m per transfer window.

-YEAR--Players Bought-----Players Sold-------Net Spend.

2017-18 £155.000m----------£187.000m-----+£32.000m Profit.

2016-17 - £67.900m ---------- £74.360m ------ +£6.460m Profit.

2015-16 - £82.600m --------- -£69.400m ----- £13.200m.

2014-15 £117.000m ---------- £78.620m ----- £38.380m.

2013-14 - £48.800m ---------- £28.500m ----- £20.300m.

2012-13 - £49.300m ---------- £8.000m ------- £41.300m.

2011-12 - £56.400m ---------- £21.050m ----- £35.350m.

2010-11 - £58.000m ---------- £55.800m ----- --£2.200m.

TOTAL - £635.000m --------- £522.730m --- £112.270m.

= £14.033m per season or £7.484m per transfer window.

When we buy big, we sell big, just look at the figures above.

Our two biggest buying of player seasons, we also have the two biggest selling of player seasons.

So £635m spent, with £522.730m recouped, which leaves a net spend of £112.270m, which equates to £7.484m over the 15 transfer windows.

With 1 League Cup sitting in the trophy cabinet and 4 runners ups in the FA Cup, Premier League, League Cup and the Europa League and a stand expanded, have we got value for money?

Or have we got what we paid for with just £7.484m per transfer window or £14.033m per season

The teams with bigger Net Spends, do win the Silverware, and Liverpool's low Net Spend compared to our rivals, is probably one of the main factors into our lack of success trophy wise, if we keep selling our best players.

The absolute bottom line is, If Liverpool were challenging and winning Premier League titles and Champions League year after year, as well as domestic Cups etc, then none of these players would even think of going anywhere else.

It’s becoming a trend for Liverpool to lose key and top players to our biggest rivals in European football –

1999-00 - McManaman to Real Madrid – (Free transfer).

2001-02 – Fowler to Leeds Utd. (Rival at that time)

2004-05 - Owen to Real Madrid – (Free transfer).

2009-10 - Arbeloa to Real Madrid.

2009-10 - Alonso to Real Madrid.

2010-11 - Mascherano to Barcelona.

2010-11 - Benayoun to Chelsea.

2010-11 - Torres to Chelsea.

2011-12 - Meireles to Chelsea.

2014-15 - Reina to Bayern Munich.

2014-15 - Suarez to Barcelona.

2015-16 - Sterling to Man City.

2015-16 - Gerrard to LA Galaxy (Not a rival) but forced.

2017-18 - Coutinho to Barcelona

2018-19 - Can probably to Juventus? – (Free transfer).

10 of these 15 players lost from 1999 to 2018, were under FSGs watch, and if we look at the quality we once had, that has been sold or moved on to get them off the wage bill under FSG, with player’s like –

Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger, Sakho, Aurelio, Maxi, Meireles, Adam, Lucas, Shelvey, Babel, Gerrard, Sterling, Bellamy, Kuyt, Torres and Suarez, with Coutinho now and Emre Can to follow at the end of the season.

Now we can see why we are not winning trophies anymore, but do we blame losing our very best players to our European rivals, because they want to win trophies, and the fear of going their entire career at Liverpool without a Winners Medal, with 1 League Cup in the last 10 years proof of that, and one of many reasons why they want to go, if these very successful rival teams come in for them.

Do we honestly believe in our hearts that FSG would pay upto £66m for Keita and £75m for Van Dijk if they were not going to sell Coutinho.

They are business men first and have a skill of balancing books, and are probably waiting for a £2 Billion valuation of the Club, before they are ready to sell.

The figures of -

£635m on Players Purchases.

£522. 7m from player’s sales.

Net Spend of just £112.2 million.

Which equates to £14m per season and £7.4m per transfer window, do not include the Keita deal, which will go onto 2018-19 figures.

Our only hope is that we have Jurgen Klopp.
