If he had gone to City FSG would have got some serious shit.

As it happens, they will get some mediocre shit

Depends on when they cash in on Phil.  Got to think this deal is going to have a bearing on that .If they sell him for more than they paid for VVD and trouser the surplus then they will get massive shit

Everyone knows Coutinho wants out. The lad is playing out of his skin. Fare play to him I thought he would have a titty lip. The owners did not sell last summer and may well get £150m for a player who wants out. That is the reality really. Since finding this forum I have been amazed at how many people are on complete downers all the time. Or on a wind up. I cannot figure which if I am honest.

I'm just suggesting that you try to take some joy in it every once in a while though, for goodness sakes. We've just signed our most expensive player ever and probably the best defender in the league!

It is quite possible to be happy that we've signed a good footballer without believing that it eradicates seven years of utter shite from these owners.

Indeed

Frankly I find it bizarre how quickly, Liverpool supporters of all people, spread ass cheeks for American hedgefund owners.   We should be very fucking wary by now.

Of course it's exciting to see Klopp getting backed and IF vvd and Kieta fulfill the hype, we're only two or so smart signings away from being very fucking good in all areas next season.

I'll hold my hands up and say I didn't think they would give the required money for the players we need.

Really happy to be proved wrong on this front.

It's still early days, but the Keita and VVD moves are proper footballing moves.

We've still barely spent over their ownership, so I'd expect a few more proper footballing moves.

Delighted they're apparently backing Klopp with this VVD signing. Not convinced however it won't lead to Coutinho leaving in January and if that happens it's just the same old same old.

However if we keep hold of Coutinho until the summer and Klopp is allowed to spend big on his replacement/s then I will be very pleasantly surprised.

This is most people's worry at the moment.

Naturally.

On balance I think it's unlikely Barcelona will come back in for Coutinho in January as they're on easy street in the league, he's cup tied in the CL, and in the end they did spend most of the "Coutinho money" on Dembele so it's not exactly burning a hole in their pockets. I wouldn't rule it out though and certainly PSG could also be in the mix.

We have the best manager its possible to obtain in our position. The 20 year stadium problem is solved. We get to watch porn on the pitch most weeks. They don't pick Simon Mingolet.

What more do you want? Seriously what else can they be expected to do?

I don't see this as a big worry as this is a deal that should have been over the line in the Summer but due to unforeseen circumstances it didn't happen. Coutinho was never going anywhere, regardless of this signing going through.

van Dijk last Summer (instead this January) and Keita next Summer. Coutinho will surely go if his release fee is met but personally I'm not even convinced Barca can afford their prime targets of Griezmann AND Coutinho so I'm pretty sure they will have to make a choice.

One thing that has occurred to me is that since the talk of Atletico complaining about tapping up, they have stopped with their public approaches towards Griezmann yet the Barca players are still publicly talking about Coutinho. It's even possible that this is a drive from the players (we want to play with Coutinho because he's so good etc.) yet the club possibly know this isn't going to happen. How can they be accused of tapping up a player they have no intention of realistically signing?

I still think it's a possibility that Coutinho will stay, possibly even beyond the Summer simply because 1) his value will rocket and 2) the team will start to deliver above and beyond all they have so far. Coutinho wants to be in a winning team and if January continues like this, who's to say the team we could have in the second half of the season?

No doubt in my mind that Barca players are being encouraged by the club to talk publicly about Coutinho, They are utter cunts .

Erm, get started on the Annie Road end, instead of throwing sly digs at the supporters about ticket prices.
