Well, I would say it’s the best transfer window in my 30 years at the club if that happens. I’m very, very skeptical that we will get both Lamar and VVD. It would be fucking outrageous if we did.

VVD

Lamar

Keita

Salah

Solanke

Robertson

Yeah, that’s championship manager shit right there. Best part of £200m spent too. It would easily blow away anything over ever seen from us.

So yeah, I can’t see us getting both.

You'd have to go back to the 87 summer to match that. That summer we brought in Barnes, Beardsley and Houghton. Add Aldridge who arrived earlier the same year, and you have a fantasy transfer year. The following season is still the best in my memory.

Guinea are now certain to qualify for next summer's world cup and Keita breaks his leg in 5 places during it. Or are they not qualified for it? Please say they havent qualified!

I’m contemplating busting out my ‘Guinea pigs might fly’ joke again. It didn’t go down to well last time. Probably because it’s outstandingly shit and not remotely funny.

I honestly do feel like they've just backed Klopp. This is a complete guess on my part but I think they've tried a few different approaches when it comes to signing players. The last method under Rodgers clearly had a lot more misses than hits. They've given Klopp more say and he only wants specific players. If we can't get them then he makes do until he can or he can convince another player of similar quality.

Our net spend has been laughable for a club our size since he arrived but he has mentioned a few times it's because it's relying on us qualifying for the champions league. Instead of buying players for overpriced fees who he would need to replace when he got there he decided to stick with what he had. He backed his own ability with players he had and it come off. He's now in the champions league with that money in the bank.

Throughout the summer it's felt like maybe I was kidding myself (and that still might be the case). We've bid for players but generally they have been unattainable and maybe the club should have realised that. Right now though they are putting their money where their mouth is. We've paid a little over the odds to guarantee Keita and we are going after some big priced players.

We can all have our opinions on how bad/good they are at specific things but the only thing I'm generally bothered about is have they hired the right manager and are they backing him. This seems to be the case for me.
