This change in position has really hindered him, he just simply doesn't have the skill set to play as a deeplying midfielder. His best football has come on the left of a in a 4-2-3-1 under Rodgers or the right hand side of a diamond of a 4-4-2, he's also played well as a RWB. This defensive midfield position couldn't suit him less.

 

Hes incapable of playing as a DM. Just doesn't have it in his locker.
