Hes one piece of a jigsaw. Henderson being successful is equal dependent on the players around him doing their jobs well and in the way Klopp wants. I dont think Klopp sees him as a captain but simply as another midfielder who needs to do a job for those around him as they do for him. I bet Dortmund fans had a few players who they gave stick to in the same way as here with Henderson and were still celebrating over Klopp's success.

Captain or no captain seems to bother fans more than the manager.

From the BBC on his 5 out of 10 performance for Ingurland today:

"Ineffective display and still looks way short of international class. Gave the ball away too often and his shooting was wayward when he got the opportunity."

Doesn't sound much like the captain of Liverpool to me.

To be fair to the BBC, which I'm usually loathe to do, they also correctly gave Kane and Rooney 5/10 as well. Unlike the spastic manager, who thought Rooney was brilliant. He was fucking awful. England, Slovakia, and consequently the game, were all fucking awful.

At least Slovakia have the excuse of being a country with the population, and quality of domestic league, of Scotland.

You could put that write up to pretty much any of his Liverpool performances

That's rubbish though. He had 90% pass completion rate. Giving the ball away wasn't as much a problem as him getting on the ball. He was just not involved enough.

I watched the game and thought he did fairly well and was a lot better than Eric Dier , who he partnered. He also put 2 or 3 excellent through balls that were butchered by Sterling & Lallana. He ( and Dier ) were hamstrung by Rooney coming back & getting in the way constantly & demanding the ball so he could waste it.

England looked better with Dier and Alli on the pitch.  Lallana set up Henderson who predictably fluffed his lines.  I can't be arsed talking about Henderson any more; except to say he's absolutely indicative of us as a team right now.

This change in position has really hindered him, he just simply doesn't have the skill set to play as a deeplying midfielder. His best football has come on the left of a in a 4-2-3-1 under Rodgers or the right hand side of a diamond of a 4-4-2, he's also played well as a RWB. This defensive midfield position couldn't suit him less.
