I would sell Henderson at the alleged £25m that has been thrown out. As I see it, he is no Liverpool captain, but the rest of our Cm's are extremely questionable.

 

There is a 10 game spell when Milner is on steroids and turns it on, but aside from that Henderson's energy, assists etc smokes and blowes Can, Allen et al clean out the water. Like any good God fearing, man I would prefer a defensive midfielder who is black and 6ft2 but we live in the real world and we aren't going to get 3 better CM's in a single window.

 

 

I know this will make people groan, but imo Allen's best games have been better than Henderson's best.  Henderson's cowardice on the ball makes my blood boil.  If the ball is played out from the back to him, he will by default cack it and play it back first time, which means the player closing him down just has to run past him to put pressure on the defender who's receiving the ball just when they don't want it.  

 

This is just one of his cowardly traits, but it is by far the most pervasive and annoying.  I hope we sell him, he's a fucking wuss.

Running more and providing a few more assists doesn't make a midfielder better than another. It's a tired example but if those criteria were the most important in determining the quality of a midfielder, Henderson would be better than Iniesta and Modric.

 

Midfielders should control games either by being good on the ball or by protecting the back four and winning the ball back from the other team. Allen is better than Henderson at the former and Can is better at the latter.
