You've taken that quote out of context.  It was a sarcastic post based upon the players Kenny was expressing an interest in during that transfer window (July 2011).  I didn't know anything about Hendo prior to us signing him.

I think it's fair to say that he was a bit of a fan. But then, quite a few people seemed to want the likes of Carroll, Cole, and Downing. It's all bridges under the water and mist for the grill. Everybody gets things wrong. I'll happily admit I rated Andy Carroll based upon his time at Newcastle.  I thought he'd be a good player for us, and didn't predict the injury nightmare he'd have to endure for the rest of his career.  I was completely wrong about him.  I've got thousands of posts on this forum, by sheer weight of numbers I'll have got lots of things wrong.  But lots right, too.  

 

The difference between people like me and LFD, and persons such as yourself, is that we're capable of admitting when we're wrong.  Just like you were wrong when you said Hendo shouldn't start games.  But you'll never admit it, because you think the sun shines out of your arse when it comes to assessing players, whereas in reality you're just some bloke on the internet who suffers the from the unfortunate combination of having a complete lack of humility and who gets things wrong from time to time.

I still don't think he was very good in the 6. I'm not going to say I was wrong when I still think that's true and I still don't want him to play there. You saying, repeatedly, that it's wrong and using his recent performances in a different position as proof, doesn't actually mean anything. I've been wrong, I've said so multiple times. I've got no issue with people calling players wrong. I called Sahin wrong, I called Allen wrong. I'm sure there are others too. But I don't agree with you that Hendo was playing to the same level as a 6. In fact, I think it's beyond belief you can say that. You'd have to wonder how so many people - fans, pundits and neutrals - are saying how much he has improved and how much his form has taken a jump since the move when, in your reality, it's just Hendo being Hendo. Yeah, I disagree and it has nothing to do with humility. 

 

Take a look what you think I'm wrong about. I thought Hendo was mediocre for a lot of matches as a 6, he wasn't a guaranteed started anymore either. So I said so. Now he's playing well, in my opinion, so I said so. You clearly think he wasn't mediocre in that role. I think you're wrong about that. You think I'm wrong about that. The only difference is you think your opinion is more valid that mine... because... erm... you're you. Well, I don't really care for your opinion on football - as we've discovered down the years when you've said 'there's nothing wrong' with some of our worst midfields, you'd then - like you're doing with Henderson now - wait for months and months of poor performances, then they do a good one and you'd bump the thread as 'proof'. Yeah. We disagree. Strongly.

"Shouldn't start games" is an absolute statement (only a Sith deals in them).  It covers all positions on the field of play, not just the number 6 role.
