Labour Leadership Contest

The Next Labour Leader

118 members have voted

  1. 1. Who do you want to cunt Cameron in the bastard?

    • Liz Kendall - she invented mintcake.
    • Andy Burnham - such sadness in those eyes
    • Yvette Cooper - uses her maiden name because she doesn't want to be called "I've ate balls"
    • Jeremy Corbyn - substitute geography teacher

Paid my £3, massively important fork in the road for a once-great party.

Having noted you must select a favoured second along with your nomination, and that such considerations may help decide the victor, I'm weighing up whether to vote for the shrew Kendall as my second choice.

I think I'd rather the party desert it's roots as nakedly as possible if it's not going to be genuinely left-wing, and will merely continue trying to court power via remaining on the right side of Uncle Rupert and big business, as many great people may then go past the tipping point and be freed of all sorts of historical and personal loyalty to join another, much needed, party/movement.

My only dilemma in the above is I suspect they will immediately weed out my ability to vote if I go 1) Corbyn 2) Kendall.

EDIT: Was writing this when Jairz posted above...obviously agree with his sentiments.

Yeah, think I'll be doing the same with the second choice. Even if it does look obvious what we're doing I'm not sure what they can do about it.

I could be brutally honest in saying that I have no idea what Burnham and Cooper stand for.

It's not just a 'few twats' though is it.

Of course it is. It's a 1000 year old building.

Have you seen the renovation quotes???

It should be renovated regardless of where Parliament sits

Become a 'Labour Party'.

You've seen how the desire for power has undermined the party since the New Labour days; how about investing those threee pounds to try to make it a party with principles and conviction?

One member, one vote could surely be 'red Ed's' one real achievement

I like Corbyn he looks and seems genuine and honest. But he's a politician and my instinct tells me that to get to the level he's at you have to have a certain amount of CUNT in you.

He looks like he should be in another political party like The Greens.

The level he's at is, basically, staying on the backbenches for centuries, because (i) he keeps getting re-elected because he's a good constituency MP and (ii) he never makes the front benches because he's principled and has refused to play any games.  Your instinct may not be correct.

For this contest, he was put in almost as a stalking horse; the reason he's doing so well is not because of any Machiavellian machinations, but simply because it's now one member one vote and there's a shitload of people tired of the increasingly sterile, remote, corrupt and strictly-controlled politics we've had for the last three decades.

I see another socialist country is on the verge of collapse, there isn't even enough toilet paper to wipe their arses in Venezuela.

Over here you'll be able to use those share certificates you're in love with, once we've forcibly nationalised whatever it is you hold them in. For minimal compensation, obviously.
