I don't remember any "open goals", probably because they don't exist, but being in a position to score is the important thing. The rest of the season Balotelli was subsisting on balls received with his back to goal about 40 yards out. I don't care how good you are, you ain't going to score from there.

A bad workman blames his tools, and Balotelli has scored everywhere except Liverpool. Of course, he's won things everywhere except Liverpool too.

Someone should ask Rodgers why he persisted with Balotelli as a lone striker even though he blatantly cannot play that role. It's almost as if the player was being deliberately set up to fail.

Juventus legend Ciro Ferrara has spoken positively of Mario Balotelli’s performance following AC Milan’s defeat to Inter in the Derby Della Madonnina on Sunday night.

Balotelli came on as a substitute for Carlos Bacca and immediately caused problems for the Nerazzurri, almost finding the equaliser when his shot flew narrowly wide.

“I really loved how Balotelli came on in the right frame of mind.” Ferrara told Mediaset.

“He is a player who will always be provoked by opponents, however he reacted well tonight.”

“He showed great desire and rediscovered the pleasure of playing football once again.”
