For as long as he's been here he's consistently put in 5 or 6 out of 10 performances when played in any position other than false 9. He was shite as a number 10, whether it was behind Sturridge, Origi or Benteke and he's been shite as a wide forward, regardless of who plays alongside him.

The limit is so low that it's best to not drink and drive and avoid all possibility for a mistake like this. The cost of a driver or a taxi is not an issue for rich players. Hopefully lesson learned.

 

I feel a bit sorry for him about the whole burglary thing. With a wife and young family he must feel vulnerable and that may have affected him too.

The bitters will bleat on about it, but there's nothing else to see here now. Hopefully with this behind him he will rediscover his best form and help us finish the season well. I think anything as high second is still on.

33 games we've had this season in all comps, and he's found the net in 6 of those games, and 1 of those 6 games was against Burton Albion.

The problem is that he's our only option. Klopp doesn't trust Origi enough to give him a run of games and we lose almost any time Sturridge is given a start.

 

We've proven that playing Firmino up front is an effective tactic but you can't expect someone who's only scored more than 15 in a league season one time to lead you to the title.

 

Given he's also not a natural #9, I think it's a little ludicrous to expect him to work as hard, to win the ball and to create chances as much as he does and then also expect him to score every game.

Is he going to be another of those that we only get half a season out of? I remember Klopp saying something after the Arsenal game last season where he basically said he was constantly having to tell Firmino how good he was and how he needed to be more consistent to get to that next level. It's frustrating because now we're getting the workrate but everything else seems to have gone. On his day he's something else. Some of the things he can do with the ball are beautiful. He's got everything to be the main man up top I reckon, I can see him getting 15-20 goals a season when everything clicks. 

Another case of us having to hope players can play themselves out of bad form because the other options aren't good enough.

I think he embodies our team, when it clicks it's magic. He was excellent at the weekend but I really want to see the lad taking on more responsibility when the chips are down and get us a goal. When you're not playing at your best. sometimes you need your CF to dig a scrappy one out or one moment of brilliance to win a game. We've yet to really see his ability from range, some of his goals for hoffenhiem and brazil would take your breath away. At the moment his shot volume is too low for a CF, he needs to up it and aim to get close to 15 this season.
