Fifa corruption

What a shock

Platini ban reduced from 6 to 4 years. Just in time to run again.

Nah, he's finished. The CAS has upheld the judgement on him that he's a corrupt cunt. I very much doubt he'd get anywhere in football ever again even if he does try and put himself forward.

Former high-ranking Fifa officials Sepp Blatter, Jerome Valcke and Markus Kattner awarded themselves pay rises and bonuses worth $80m (£55m) over five years, say Fifa lawyers.

Football's governing body revealed the contracts of ex-president Blatter, fired ex-secretary general Valcke and sacked former finance director Kattner one day after a Swiss police raid.

Documents and electronic data were seized during Thursday's operation, which relates to investigations into Blatter and Valcke.

Suspected of criminal mismanagement of Fifa money, Blatter and Valcke were banned for six and 12 years respectively by the governing body's ethics committee in February. Both deny wrongdoing.

A statement for the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG), which carried out the investigations, read: "Documents and electronic data were seized and will now be examined to determine their relevance to the ongoing proceedings.

"The investigations still relate only to the persons named in earlier statements issued by the OAG and further persons unknown. As proceedings are ongoing, no further information can be given at present."

More to follow.

Fucking corrupt cunts.

Apart from the obvious, ie here's some cash let us host it, how does the bidding actually work?

I ask as I have no clue how you bid to host a world cup, other than buying a vote.

Personally it should go to, and in no actual order,  1) countries who have won it, 2, countries who have the infrastructure to actually accommodate it, and 3, countries who have human right levels above and beyond stoning of raped wives, hanging of same sex couples, (not that I condone such a thing) (Cue Lizzie) the Swiss, anyone who has met Blatter, and countries where the legal age for sex allows the likes of jimmy saville, gary glitter and the likes a free run.

But seriously, how do you bid?

You put forward a proposal on how you'd host it. You invite the entire set of delegates to your country and wine and dine them (formally), then informally cut a bunch of deals with them ranging from 'We'll bring our national team over for a friendly' through to 'we'll give your son a job with us, and we'll hire you to do consultancy work for 100K an hour etc' etc etc

The delegates will take all they can get, then still not vote for you because they got even more 'favours' from another nation.

There's also a lot of politics between UEFA and Concacaf etc so plenty want to give UEFA a bloody nose for being too big and cocky.

Fucking blatter is a piece of work. Today's ahem, allegations of massive bonuses for successful world cups (just what determines an unsuccessful WC?), he believes hes done nothing wrong and the bonuses will be shown to be in line with what other top sporting exec's receive.

You couldnt make it up.

The Villareal fix was in.

It begs the question, have Everton or Liverpool ever suffered from fixed draws?

In 2005 UEFA found themselves in a difficult position when Liverpool’s unexpected Champions League success in Istanbul, coupled with Everton’s fourth place finish, meant that the Premier League would have had FIVE teams in the group stages should Everton have won their qualifying tie.

In previous years English teams enjoyed draws against clubs like Zilinia of Slovakia (Chelsea 2004), ZTE of Hungary (Manchester United 2003) and Željeznicar of Bosnia (Newcastle in 2002) - but in 2005 Everton were handed the toughest draw imaginable against Spanish side Villarreal - who went on to reach that season’s semi-finals.

Anyone seen Blatter talking about draws being rigged with "warm and cold balls" (fnar). That is something that has been popping up in forums for at least ten years.

Blatter, who spent decades denying any and all allegations of corrupt practice in football while FIFA president just can't shut his yap about supposed corrupt practice in football now that he's been deposed. All that stuff was going on because he either encouraged it and/or turned a blind eye. He made it a personal mission to turn the organisation into his own personal fieldom and made sure he was the one in the know about everything that went on within FIFA, so he cannot look like anything but an idiot and a hypocrit when talking about corrupt practice in football.

Joao Havelange - Blatter's predecessor as FIFA president - has died at the age of 100. Bastard was lucky to be so old because he deserved some serious jail time for being a massive fraudulent cunt.

Joao Havelange: Former Fifa president and IOC member dies aged 100

Former Fifa president Joao Havelange has died at the age of 100.

The Brazilian was predecessor to Sepp Blatter at world football's governing body, serving from 1974 to 1998.

He resigned as Fifa's honorary president in April 2013 following an investigation into bribery allegations and was admitted to hospital the following year with a lung infection.

He was an International Olympic Committee (IOC) member from 1963 until 2011, resigning because of ill health.

Havelange represented Brazil in swimming at the 1936 Olympics - the year he qualified as a lawyer - before his election to the IOC.

As Fifa president he led the World Cup's expansion from 16 to 32 teams, with six competitions held under his tenure.

However, his career was also mired in controversy over bribery allegations.

In 2010, a BBC Panorama programme accused Havelange and son-in-law Ricardo Teixeira of taking millions of dollars in bribes from Swiss marketing agency International Sport and Leisure (ISL) to retain the company as Fifa's sole official marketer.

His resignation from the IOC five years ago avoided an investigation into the ISL allegations, which Havelange had denied.

In 2012, Teixeira stepped down as head of Brazil's football federation, a position he filled for 23 years, and resigned from the 2014 World Cup organising committee after coming under pressure over corruption allegations, which he also denied.

As well as swimming at the 1936 Olympics, Havelange was part of the Brazilian water polo team at the 1952 Helsinki Games and was chef de mission for the Brazilian delegation at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.

And it was as a sports administrator, particularly in football, that Havelange made his mark.

He embarked on a career which began as president of the Metropolitan Swimming Federation in Brazil. He also became a member of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and joined the International Cycling Union in 1958.

After becoming vice-president of the Brazilian Sports Confederation, he served as president from 1958 to 1973, before he became the most powerful man in world football.

In 1974 he succeeded Britain's Sir Stanley Rous to be elected Fifa president, marshalling support among those unhappy at the perceived European domination of the world governing body.

An imposing figure, with piercing blue eyes, his astuteness as a politician and his adeptness at retaining power enabled him to hold the Fifa presidency for 24 years until being succeeded by Blatter in 1998.

When Havelange was elected president, Fifa's Zurich headquarters housed just 12 staff members. But that figure increased almost tenfold over the next two decades as Fifa's organisational responsibilities and commercial interests grew.

Increasing the size of the World Cup to 32 teams gave countries from Asia, Oceania and Africa the chance to shine on the world stage, Cameroon becoming the first African country to reach the quarter-finals in 1990.

It was Havelange who launched a wave of new tournaments, notably the world championships at Under-17 and Under-20 level in the late 1980s and the Fifa Confederations Cup and Fifa Women's World Cup at the start of the 1990s.

Saw that a couple of weeks ago. Do not know where in the current calender they think these two tournaments will fit. A 24 club World Club Cup jesus wept. Really is time Europes top clubs fought back and said enough is enough.

Ahem,

Think about the real victims: Calvin Klein, Gloria Vanderbilt, and Antoine Bugleboy -- people who saw an overcrowded market and said, "Me, too!"

Fifa exploring new Saudi Arabia proposal to hold men’s and women’s World Cups every two years

Fifa is to look at holding the World Cup every two years, rather than four, having launched an unprecedented study into changes to the football calendar.

A proposal by Saudi Arabia for the feasibility study for the men’s and women’s World Cups won overwhelming backing among Fifa’s member nations at its annual Congress yesterday — though any such move is likely to be fiercely fought by Uefa as it would have a huge impact on its European Championship tournaments. Gianni Infantino, Fifa’s president, said there was an opportunity for changes to the international match calendar after 2024 and denied that having the tournament more often would devalue it.

“Every year in England you have 380 games by the same teams and everyone is very happy with the Premier League so I don’t think the repetitive element would be harming,” he said.

“No decisions will jeopardise what we are doing, we know the value of the World Cup. What we need to study is what kind of competitions do we want and need for the world, for Europe, for Africa, for Asia. We will put the sporting element as a priority, not the commercial element. You don’t need to be Einstein to know that if you put World Cups every two years you will double the revenues.”

Arsène Wenger, Fifa’s chief of global football development, has previously suggested a biennial World Cup. Uefa declined to comment but insiders are confident a World Cup every two years can be opposed. Infantino said: “We need to look at some of the countries outside of Europe. In Africa, out of 54 countries only five qualify for the World Cup. If you don’t qualify what are you doing for the next four years? Nothing? We will study it and see what it means in terms of the health of players, disruption or non-disruption of national leagues and international competitions.”

Infantino called Saudi Arabia’s proposal “eloquent and detailed” and 166 national federations voted in favour with 22 against. Yasser al-Misehal, the Saudi federation president, told the Congress: “It is time to review how the game is structured and to consider what is best for the future of our sport.”

Meanwhile, Infantino insisted there was no “collusion” on the part of Fifa over the Super League project, despite Javier Tebas, the La Liga president, claiming he was involved in the plans.

It's shit but sadly, with all the fallout from this Euro League and comically called 'fan led' Government review of football, the bigger clubs will be shafted for a generation or more. Only if they manage to qualify for UEFA competitions will the other clubs realise they have no fucking say in the matter either.

We'll see more of this shit as FIFA and UEFA in particular over crowding the football calender as they reassert themselves as 'head' of the game. "Do as we tell you, release your players to us for our twice yearly competitions and tough shit if they come back injured. It is for the fans after all."

Fans who think good will come out of this review are in my opinion, going to be well disappointed. Clubs like everton, west ham and a few others who hope to compete regularly in Europe will soon bellyache when they see their players being run to exhaustion and injured by international managers who dont give a fuck about their clubs. Then, the tv companies schedule their games at 12:30 on a Saturday after they had to travel to some far UEFA outpost in their 'Conference League.'

Yeah, there's talk of scrapping the Saturday lunchtime slot for a Saturday night 8pm kick off time but, the cunts will still whinge.
