It's not great evidence of your argument, is it? In May 2021 I was saying that those pay rises wouldn't last; you'd need to show figures from about 2024 to demonstrate that they have lasted. Instead, you're admitting that this year people in those sectors are getting real-terms pay cuts.

Meanwhile, the (probable) next Prime Minister is promising to deliver on "the whole point of Brexit" by stripping us of our rights and workplace protections.  Workers are fucked as a direct result of the way 51.9% of people voted six years ago.

Most carpenters have received an approx 20 - 30 % wage increase since last spring. Obviously world events have taken over.

We wouldn't even be discussing working class wages if not for Brexit. The bottom 20-30% suffered twenty years of wage stagnation, they didn't even enter the conversation.

I'm not sure we'd see this Union rebirth if not for Brexit. Workers have finally found their voice again.

Neoliberalism is a fucking blight - and we're still in the situation where too many Centrists would rather turn a blind eye to the rise of Fascism (or a government's slide towards Fascism) than side with Socialists to resist it.

The world has been here before. It doesn't end well.

I agree.

You couldn't be more wrong.

The "union rebirth" is only related to Brexit because Brexit has exacerbated inflation and - after years of wage stagnation under the Brexiteers in Government - millions of workers have reached a breaking point.

Oh I couldn’t be more right and more importantly Mick Lynch thinks I'm right.

As for inflation you're wrong again, its rising in countries not in the EU.

Construction workers got a pay rise (well, a real-terms pay cut) that was about half of what their unions wanted.

I told you in a post above they got a 5% increase Angry, same as nurses, though unlike nurses construction workers had a large rise the year before.

Construction workers in general are doing fine out of Brexit Angry. Someone very close to me runs an employment agency covering construction in the S. West. Another family member owns a large (ish) construction company. Carpenters are in short supply, they are earning good money, believe me. Obviously inflation has hit everyone these past few months.

5th 6th paragraph down, they've had some very good years wage wise Angry.

Again, you're putting all your faith in the theories of market forces: that as supply (in this case, labour) reduces prices (i.e. wages) will increase. In reality, supply & demand are far from the biggest influence on wages. The biggest influence has always been the relative power of employers and employees - and "the whole point of Brexit" is to shift that balance in favour of the bosses.

And crowns on pint glasses. And new signage in the Dartford Tunnel.

In another five years time we've might have enough Brexit benefits to compile our own 'What have the Roman's ever done for us?' style list, albeit a really really shit one.

Bringing back these type of pint glasses as far as I'm concerned is the only real benefit of Brexit.

I can't stand the branded vases they serve you nowadays.

Out of the mouths of babes-

Works well and could be expanded-

"Derek went bankrupt after making a complete Brexit of his finances."

"The state of that fucking Brexit over there in the Lonsdales."

"Don't be a Brexit, dear."

I was playing fifa with my boy last night and heard 'absolute Brexit tackle' for the first time. I somewhat enjoyed it.

Hahahaha sums up the typical Brexiteer mentality.

"The beach is full of shit!"

"Aye but it's British shit, none of that foreign turd"

One of these -Brexiteers' is all over the TV and radio today, fighting for workers rights, and I don't mean Dan Hodges.

The reason sewage is being pumped into our rivers and beeches is because we are the only country in the world who thought it a good idea to put water in private hands.

The shareholders have made approx 2 billion every year since 1991. Nice of you to present them with a ready excuse and a get out of jail card though.

Here's another Brexiteer

The bottom line is that the whole point of Brexit was to effect more privatisation, less regulation of corporations, poorer public services and reduced rights for workers.  Anyone who fell for the "Lexit" delusion forgot to take account of the political reality of a Tory Government.

And here we are.

I despise Brexiteers. Absolute twats.

Mentioned this before but I watched a programme a while ago and there was this clip of this old fella on brexit day in tears, saying we got our country back.

I don't know but it's always stayed with that clip.

Maybe it just reinforces the fact that they pushed a complete lie and so many people fell for it.

Yeah there was a Northern fella (Barnsley I think) on the news on the same day pointing at kebab houses saying "I can't wait to see all these gone" even the reporter had to tell him that Brexit didn't mean we are all of a sudden kicking people out. Thick as pigshit.
