I imagine the vast majority are veg picking, cleaning the toilets in hotels or wiping the arses of care home residents. The fact that they are still vacant says that Brits don't want to do them.

Because the fuckers who own them don't pay enough. Pay the dosh you get the workers.

Drives up wages but we can’t run operations properly due to a lack of drivers and it drives consumer prises up affecting everyone else. You’re a fucking idiot.

I work in this sector and can see first hand just how bad it is. Recruiting for new drivers is a fucking shit show. Nobody wants to do it due to the hours and what is involved in the job. We massively increased our driver salaries and it’s done fuck all to help the driver shortage.

I agree its hard and I don't know the game as well as you but surely on the other hand the management problems give workers have a tiny little bit more clout?

That's a different argument though. The government we have, the one that started this shit show, aren't too interested in workers rights or conditions. As evidenced my delightful local MP this week.

Yeah fair enough.

We have massive shortage of workers. It has had an impact on everyone else. From drivers to warehouse staff. Both had pay increases but are leaving due to the extra workload because we are now severely understaffed.

I looked it up myself:

Arts, entertainment and recreation seems suitably vague. Presumably all the bar staff that were laid off due to covid and can't be arsed going back. "Wholesale" is another standout sector. Again, the article doesn't elaborate, but that could include agriculture.

On the arts jobs website there are lots of jobs, but most are part time and fixed contract. Lots of pro rata going on. Many of them aren’t even arts jobs, but casual bar staff and waiting on staff for events. Zero hours basically.

Just from speaking to friends and family I’m aware of huge recruitment issues in the NHS, including professional roles such as GPs, social care has collapsed around here due to lack of staff to provide home care support, hospitality, outdoor education, agricultural work, haulage

We decided to leave the eu knowing full well ,British citizens would be subject to more checks yet they couldn't wait to point the finger at the French.

Even the BBC are framing it as brexit related issue.
