What makes you so sure that the Lib Dems would not choose to go into coalition with the Conservatives?

Or is your certainty due to other reasons, such as the Conservatives will make a majority without the LD's help?

Because why on earth would they go into coalition with the Conservatives? What possible reason could there be for doing that? Their policies are completely at odds. It defies all logic and common sense.

Didn’t Swinson refuse to rule it out when pushed on it? Why would she do that?

The Liberal Democrat leader, Jo Swinson, has ruled out entering into a coalition with the Conservatives or the Labour party if a general election delivers a hung Parliament.

That sounds a bit early-2010.

Does it? As I recall, in 2010, not only were the Tories led by a (relative) moderate with whom some compromise could be found, but all parties (including Labour, even if they've spent the last 9 years pretending otherwise) were united in agreement that serious cuts would need to be made in order to address the economic situation, which is why the economic plans of all three parties were virtually identical.

She’s refused to rule it out in the past though. Can you understand why some people won’t take that at face value?

Well, I don't know what occasion you're referring to, but even if she hadn't said anything, it surely makes zero sense for a party whose overwhelming priority is stopping Brexit to even consider supporting a party that wants to implement a hard Brexit.

If your party gets a sniff of power again they’ll come up with the necessary excuses.

I can quite easily see a situation were she joins a Johnson Gov with the expressed aim of softening Brexit... he'll throw a few bones her way on environmental protection and the SM.

Not saying it will happen but it's well within the bounds of credulity

I was just pulling your plonker, really.

For what it's worth, I reckon both Tories and Lib Dems have wasted so much time and effort pretending that Brexit is the only issue there is that neither party could now countenance a Coalition.

We need a Labour majority Government to sort this shit out.

Absolute fantasy seems to be the order of the day here. I'm out.

How is it fantasy? It happened less than 10 years ago! The leader of the Lib Dems also called for a referendum on leaving the EU in the past! It is not fantasy at all. Not one bit. "I'm out" is because you know you are wrong on this matter.

Swinson would drop her knickers and bend over for Johnson if she knew a coalition with them would aid her career.

The Stella Creasy amendment has passed and now there's a chance for opposition parties to table their own amendments to the short bill. At the very least EU citizens should get the chance to vote and it should be one of the amendments that are tabled. If our resident Aussie can vote why can't those who have actual skin in the game?

As I already pointed out, the circumstances in 2010 could not be more different from the circumstances now.

I'm out because it is pointless arguing with people who are perpetuating this fantasy, against all reason. As typified by your ludicrous comment about Swinson.

What is ludicrous about it?! She voted for austerity she has as much blood on her hands as any Tory. Get a grip

Yeah. Definitely wouldn’t happen now she said a thing.

No, it definitely wouldn't happen, because it definitely wouldn't happen. Pointing out that she said a thing was merely my response to claims that she hadn't said a thing.

She has history for 'changing her mind' SD. No-one should believe a word she says.

People should believe her until she gives them a reason not to.

Look, I understand that Labour are shit scared of Swinson, especially after that poll last month which showed that even Labour voters prefer Swinson to Corbyn as PM. It's an insult to my intelligence to pretend that this is anything other than that.
