You'd think so, but many Ex Pats who I've met in Germany think along the same lines as far as patriotism goes. I think the fact that they live in a foreign land themselves just goes over their head.

Brexit MEPs turned their backs on the EU anthem when it was played as part of the opening session of the EU Parliament. Imagine if anyone did that to our national anthem and how outraged they'd be. Incapable of common courtesy.
