Brexit is a disaster no matter how hard you try and spin it. Unless of course you're one of the many millionaires who benefited from it.

You seriously believe employers struggling to fill vacancies and having to increase wages is spin?

The below is not spin, high vacancies are a massive plus for low paid workers,

The Brexit debate is pretty much over, the world didn't end.

But it's not really a debate is it?

If brexit was a wonderful success do you really think that collection of cunts wouldn't be screaming it from the roof tops particularly now?

2:30 today the Minister for Brexit Opportunities speak to the select committees about all those benefits, be sure to tune in.

Should only take a minute. Unemployment down to its lowest rate for over 40 years and staff shortages pushing up wages for low paid workers.

For those who can remember the horror of high unemployment, job insecurity and wage stagnation it's more than enough.

Civil service have had a decade of pay restraint.

Next year it will be a whopping 2%

I'd suggest wage stagnation os hardly a relic of the past.

Youre right it's not unfortunately, although thankfully many low paid workers in agriculture, haulage, food processing etc did receive rises plus the labour shortages added to low unemployment have brought more job security for those at the lowest end of the pay sector, increased inflation has ruled the benefits out but they were real and they were driven by labour shortages caused through both Covid and Brexit.

If you're one of those unfortunate enough to remember three plus million unemployed you don't need to,

Brexit hasn't reduced unemployment and it won't reduce unemployment.

You reduce unemployment, in the longer term, by increasing demand. Brexit reduces demand. The Brexit Government knew it would do this, even as they campaigned for it. They've been hiding behind the economic effects of Covid, but that won't last.

Ah so that's why most eu countries have a much higher unemployment rate than ours

How do 6 EU countries manage to have lower unemployment rates than the UK? It's almost as if there are other factors at play.

What's the mechanism by which, in your opinion, Brexit reduces unemployment?

(Please don't say "It stops the forrins taking our jobs".)

There's nothing there about EU countries.

Here's what's happening in the Netherlands

Pure fantasy. Fire & rehire has been the order of the day for the last year or more.

True, fire and rehire is cunts trick and is being used more and more be some employers, it should be illegal even though it's not employees actually losing their job it's mainly the same workers being rehired under different contracts which benefit the employer. The recent P&O sackings (more fire and hire someone else than fire and rehire) were perfectly legal within EU law but could now be outlawed here if our government had the will, same as fire and rehire, which imo is another example of lazily blaming brexit whilst giving our government a free pass.

Amazing how perfectly legal fire and rehire is illegal in several EU countries. It's like it's not an EU thing and up to individual governments.

Can't believe Gnasher is parroting Boris. Well I can do, because he's in love with Boris's only policy.

Small example why I think you're wrong.

When you pop into town for a meal the for said food will have been picked by agricultural workers, transported by haulage workers and cooked and served by hospitality staff, none of which are likely to be 'millionaires' yet all are low paid workers who are now benefiting from increased job opportunities and wage rises because of staff shortages,

So if your heart bleeds for employers who need to raise wage rates to attract and keep staff, good for you, im not so charitable, fuck em.

If low paid workers are paid £1000 a year more, but the cost of Brexit is £2000 a year how are they better off?

All in how the pie is sliced and shared. The country's GDP could be through the roof but its irrelevant if the poor and low paid are neglected, as they were. Brexit has given employers no choice but to give more to workers in certain low paid sectors such as agriculture/haulage or else the product remains unpicked and/or unmoved, its wealth re distribution through market forces.
